The sunlight from the window shine through my face which hurt my swollen eyes from sleeping. I felt a pain on my back as I started to slowly open my eyes and realized that I was sleeping in the hallway. I groaned as I force myself to stand up. I stretched my arms which and it gave me a relief. I felt anxious when I remembered that before I'll be able to continue my sleep in my room, I just realized that I have to face Ms. Weems first before anything else.
I sighed, "This is frightening." I told myself.
I marched my way on the way to her office. I checked my phone and it shows that it's already almost 11am. Surely she already saw me sleeping on the floor and she didn't even bother to wake me up. Ugh!
I stood up infront of her office and I was about to lift my hand to knock...but...I remember...no knocking.
"She doesn't like knocking..." I told myself again which made me roll my eyes. "This is unbelievable." I pressed the button of the doorbell mic, "Morning, Ms. Weems. It's Aya. H-Hi. May I come in?"
There was no response. I crossed my arms.
I pressed it again, "Ms. Larissa Weems? It's Aliyah Beischel..."
Still no response. My temper is losing.
"This is going to be the last time that I will press this goddamned button and if I still didn't receive a response, I will knock this door until it falls." I told myself, feeling my short tempered self on my nerves.
I pressed it again and for the last time, "Ms. Weems? This is Ms. Beischel." The door opened automatically revealing Ms. Weems sitting on her chair and typing on her laptop. She didn't even bother to look at me which made my heart pump. I started to remember the stupidity that I did last night. It was my first day as her tenant and I already made something very disappointing.
I slowly walked towards her. I can feel my hands shaking and my heart feels like it will come out anytime soon.
"Good m-morning, Ms. Weems." I forced a smile as I stood infront of her.
She slowly look up to face me, "Sit down." she said and then she starts typing on her laptop again. I noticed that her typing became faster as it was before I sat.
"Umm. About last ni—"
"What about?" she cut me off, "Nice outfit...from yesterday." she said sarcastically. I knew it! She already saw me sleeping on the floor. It's impossible for her to not see me because she went out from her room to go to her office.
I forced a soft chuckle, "Last night the door was not locked, that's why I was able to come in. I was 30 mins late from the said curfew....I'm sorry. I fell asleep at the caf—"
"You broke one of my rules during your first night." She said blankly while her attention is with her laptop.
"Admittedly, y-yes, Ms. Weems." I can feel my legs trembling. My chest started to heat because of brittleness. I was more nervous when she spoke.
She slowly looked up and faced me, "You do know that I have a consequence for you, young lady. And you have no rights to refuse, am I being clear with you?"
"Y-Yes, Ms. W-Weems." I said as I hold my grip tighter.
"Then come with me..."
She was about to stand up but the telephone rang. She swiftly gazed at me, "Clean the area for a week starting today."
My eyes widened, "W-What?"
"No repeats." she says.
"B-But, today is the only chance that I can fix and organize my things before my school starts. Plus, my back hurts becau—"
"You should've thought of that before you broke my simple rule." she said while pointing at the telephone. A sign for me to leave because she will be answering.
I was about to walk out but I remembered that one of my purpose being here is because I forgot my keys inside my room.
I stepped back, smiling and shy.
"My keys are inside the room." I said bashfully.
"Out and wait for me." She said with authority so I started tiptoing fast.
"Yes, Lily?" I heard her from behind. I guess it's urgent and I'm the one who kept the call waiting. I got off without a blink of an eye and I find myself catching my breathe.
"Why am I feeling this? I'm not a weak person who gets intimated and scared easily just because of a person!" I ranted to myself.
This woman's aura is killing me and I don't like it. As much as I know, I'm a very stiff person and because of Ms. Weems, I'm already doubting myself. She makes my feet tremble and my hand shake wildy. She makes me feral!
I heard her going out of her office door. I don't want to face her so I trudged. I can feel her presence behind me and I can smell her scent. Her aroma is like a wet lavender that are fresh from the rain.
"I'm really sorry to bother. I left my keys inside my bag unconsciously."
We reached my room and I stepped back so she can unlock my door. My eyes widened and my jaw almost dropped when I saw her walk infront of me.
She is......giant. She's very tall. As fuck. She's almost as tall as this collosal door. I was frozen at my place. It's something that I cannot process and I did not expect.
Finally, she unlocked my door and then she gracefully swayed her body to face me. Now, she's infront of me and all I can say is I felt like a 9-year-old little girl again. She gave me an akinbo pose which made me more intimidated.
"I hope next time I won't pick a news wherein you lose your keys."
"I'll prevent that from happening." I shyly giggled as I scratch my head. "Thank you and I'm really sorry for bothering you, Ms. Weems."
She nodded blankly. I was quite startled when she made noises from the floor using her foot.
"The floor is very rough. I hope you didn't crack your bones." she said after she walked out.
I made face because I cannot scream and complain while she's still in the hallway.
"And don't forget to clean the place as your consequence." she said before closing the door.
"I hate you!" I whispered while rolling my eyes.
I really don't like her! I mean it!
