Catching Fireflies (Doctor who)

Surprise!

Sorry it's been a while since I've updated. I think I'll become regular once I get everything in order, I just have to wait until I do. Ok so I've got this story going on, and I've got Not Alone also (if anyone else wants to read it.) I've also been typing up beginnings to a bunch of other FanFictions just because I think it would be an amazing pair up. But I haven't published them yet because I don't want to have like 50 books going at once and never finish them. I know I'm exaggerating but whatever, you know what I mean. So without anything else to talk about, here's Chapter 20, Surprise!

Once that foot steps were out of hearing distance the Doctor looked at Kaylee then rushed out to go find and help River. Kaylee thought him foolish and began to maneuver her way over to the com. that was on the wall opposite of her in the infirmary.

Simon and Wash were talking in the pilots room about the nature of where they were going to be dropped off.

"You should be thinking about asking the Capain to drop you somewhere else. Whitefall ain't exactly civilization in the strictest seance." Wash said looking from the window to Simon.

"You don't have to worry about me." Simon said.

"Well, Zoe's out on a deal, I always worry. So, it's not out of my way."

"He took her." Kaylee's voice said over the com. "He took River." With that said Simon took off bolting out of the door. Wash stood up and attempted to follow Simon but heard the distinct buzzing noise that gave him a sick feeling in his gut.

"Oh don't" He said realizing what the alarm was for. "Don't you dare."

The Doctor found River and Dobson in the cargo area as Dobson tried to open the door of the cargo bay to get River outside. He was about to bum rush him and grab the gun when Simon came from the top stair cases, jumping right on top of Dobson. The gun slid from Dobson's hand and River backed away in fear of it. The Doctor stood by her side and pulled her behind a bunch of barrels.

Simon and Dobson struggled against each other, fighting for control. Dobson reached for the gun but Simon had grabbed the back of his shirt and pulled him to a standing position. Dobson elbowed Simon in the jaw and lunged for the gun and again failed. Simon was a bit quicker than expected and had grabbed a different gun and pointed it at Dobson.

"Reavers." Wash's voice said over the com. "We've got incoming Reavers and their headed strait for us. We are in the air in one minute." Wash then mumbled "I guess they got hungry" thinking no one could hear him, but they could.

"Are you gonna do that?" Dobson asked Simon. "You gonna kill a law man in cold blood."

"Simon, I know I have huge rules on not killing, but I passed Book as I came in from the infirmary. He had been hit, hard. This man is losing my sympathy." The Doctor pointed out in a stern and calm voice.

"Look, I know what you did for your sister, I understand. That doesn't make you a killer." Dobson said. Simon looked at Dobson, then at the Doctor, as if he was asking for permission.

"You do what you have to do." The Doctor said, walking over to River. She looked at Simon, then the Doctor. The Doctor tried to calm her down but she moved away from his touch.

"I don't wanna hurt anybody." Dobson lied. Book then stumbled into the room confirming what the Doctor had said about Dobson. The Doctor looked at River then went over to Book to help him out. "I have a job to do. To uphold the law, that's what we're talking about here." Dobson looked at River, then Simon. "There's no where you can take her the law wont find. No body is going to hurt her. Less you hurt me." Dobson tried to get his gun but the Doctor kicked it out of reach.

"No, I said- I said don't- don't move." Simon said.

"It's your call." Dobson said calmly. Mal, Zoe, and Jayne had just come in on their horses. The hatch opened a little more to let them in making Simon turn in alarm. Given this opportunity Dobson crawled over to his gun and shot at Simon. He then got up and ran to grab River again.

"No!" The Doctor yelled. Inara heard the gun shot and ran out of her shuttle to see what was going on. Dobson had put the gun to Rivers head and Simon had his gun pointed at Dobson.

"I'm not playing anymore." Dobson said not very frustrated making him look like a lunatic. The Doctor feared for Rivers life and was somehow outraged at the fact the Dobson had a gun pointed at her head. He snapped. Usually it doesn't happen that often, but this was a special case that even he didn't know the reason behind it. The Doctor pulled out a gun from his tweed jacket (Bigger on the inside), the same gun that had shot his wife when she was a child.

Mal had just walked on the ship and into the cargo bay and wasn't in any mood to deal with things like this, so ha also pulled out his gun.

"If anyone makes so much-" BOOM!! Dobson was down. But Mal hadn't fired yet. The Doctor was behind Dobson with a gun behind what used to be a living man. River was shaking with shock from the sound the gun made. Book glared at the Doctor, with a new view on his character. Mal looked at Dobson and shot him once more, most likely for good measure. Zoe and Jayne came running in soon after. Simon had his gun up and hadn't moved since the shot was fired.

"Jayne!" Mal called picking up the feet of Dobson. Jayne smirked and went to help Mal throw the body off. Zoe went towards the cargo bay com and messaged Wash that they were safe on the ship, and closing the back quickly.

Simon walked to his sister, gun still in hand. She was about to scream again when Simon noticed and put the gun down. Mal and Jayne had come back from tossing the body. And Serenity was off.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOo now all they have to do is figure out how to lose the Reavers. Man, their luck has just plummeted. Hope you all liked it!
