"Ok, I'll try to answer your questions as simply as I can." The Doctor said to everyone. "Captain, would you like to start?"

"Yeh." Mal said giving the Doctor a fake smile. "Who are you?"

"I'm the Doctor."

"We know that but Doctor who?"

"Just the Doctor."

"So you have no name?"

"I have a name."

"Then what is it?"

"I'd rather not say."

"Why's that?"

"Well for one reason we'd need to be madly in love and trust you with all of my heart, but between you and me, you're not really my type."

"But you have a wife yes?" Book chimed in, looking between Mal and the Doctor. "You talked of her when we first met."

"Yes I have a lovely wife."

"I recall you also said she was in prison." Book said.

"Yes, I did say that."

"Well, wha' she do?" Jayne asked wondering what kind of woman the Doctor dealt with.

"I don't believe that's relevant," The Doctor said feeling uncomfortable. "how about another question."

"How 'bout what cha' did to Kaylee." Jayne pointed out. Everyone's brows rose to their hairlines.

"Yeh Doc. Wha' cha' do to Kaylee?" Mal repeated, his grip tightening on his chair.

"To answer that, I'd need to give you some background information, a little prequel of my life. Umm, I'm an alien from the planet Gallifrey, my race is called the Time Lords. We have a different bio-molecular system than humans do. For instance, I have two hearts. Along with that our lifespan is also longer than a humans."

"How much longer?" Mal asked.

"I'm eleven hundred and three years old. Give or take."

"How is that even possible, don't you get injured or sick?" Wash asked.

"Yes, but Time Lords are funny about dieing. We do this thing called a regeneration. When we're dieing our body, as a last resort, changes. Meaning new body, new personality, even new teeth. The energy that we give off is very powerful and can even heal entire planets. Although a Time Lord has a certain amount of regenerations, we can however, use bits and pieces to heal others."

"So[ what's this gotta do with Kaylee?" Mal asked impatient.

"When I knew Kaylee had passed I used a bit of my energy to help her recover. Kinda like a jump start."

"What do you mean passed?" Simon asked just joining the conversation.

"When we moved her, from the infirmary to the engine room, her wound opened up without us knowing. We found out only after she collapsed from the blood loss."

Mal looked at Shepard then Jayne who both nodded confirming his story. "So she's going to be ok?" He asked turning back to the Doctor.

"Yes. She may need on e day of recovery but after that it'll be as if she was never shot. No pains, bruises, or scarring." There was a pregnant silence until Zoe, who had been eyeing the Doctor since he walked onto the ship, spoke up.

"Are there any more of you? Could any of our friends, or enemy's, be what you are?"

The Doctors eyes fell to the floor for a few seconds then met Zoe's. "No, that wouldn't be possible. They all died in a terrible war. I'm the last of my kind." It was silent again. Mal and Zoe couldn't help but understand his feelings of grief after a war. The Doctor took a deep breath and looked at everyone. "Look, I've had plenty of time morning the deaths and I believe it's better to live and hold their memories close, then to wallow in the past. So, does anyone have any more questions?"

It was Simon who spoke up this time. "Yes, what did you do to my sister?"

The Doctor looked at him confused. "What?"

"When I left the room she was calm but when I get back she's hysterical. She's crying about things that don't make sense, she's sounding like she was in a separate body. The only difference between those two times was you were with her, so what happened?"

The Doctor looked at Simon and truthfully answered. "I don't know. Really, you don't know how hard it is for me to say that, but I really don't I'm just as confused as you are."

"She repeated the same sentence before she calmed down. She said 'It hurts to remember.' Do you know what the memory is?"

The Doctor shook his head. "No, I don't. She told me a bit of the memory, she said it was her first, I'm assuming it was when she was a baby."

"But you can't have memories when you're an infant. You don't store long term memories until you're around the age of two or three."

"But that's the thing. She wasn't referring to herself. It was someone elses' memory that she was seeing. She told me that I was jealous of her hair. And if it was a first memory, wouldn't you think that would be of a parental figure?" Simon nodded as the Doctor rambled to everyone, but mainly himself. "So what parents do I know? A lot actually, don't really get along quite often. I get slapped. Hair, hair, hair, who's hair am I jealous of?" The Doctor racked his brain and rummaged his hair tugging at it as if that would help his brain flow. He looked around at everyone who were now just listening to his ramble. He could feel a slight blush rise in embarrassment and he quickly gathered himself. "Sorry, I tend to go off an edge." He searched wide eyes seeing Zoe nod just flabbergasted. If that was a word for anything.

"Well when you're done rambling, you can start fixing up the engine until Kaylee is fit to do so herself." Mal said standing up. "We're fine with you staying here as long as you are helpin' out, we don't take kind to those who freeload. And that goes for anyone who wants to stay." Mal nodded to Simon and Book. The Doctor stood and shook hands with Mal in agreement. "But don't think this questioning is over. You've got a lot of history for someone who doesn't exist and I recon it's a pretty good story to tell."

"Oh, not really." The Doctor said laughing a little, Mal joined him as well.

"The funny this is, you actually think you have a choice."

"And wont that be a day, when you know my life history."

"Lookin' forward to it."

And they're off into the 'verse!

Hello!!!!!! It's been to long. I know I haven't been updating but I've been everywhere and then some! However, you're days of waiting for an update are over. After I post this look for the next chapter because it's coming out OH SO SOON! I'm now focusing on this and my other story Breakout Kings + 1, because that only has one chapter. Sadly for those who are reading the Not Alone story I've hit a really bad writers block. Everything that spews out of my hand ends up sounding cheesy and leaves a bad taste in my mouth. However, I will find a good way of writing it!

Comment and vote, I love hearing what y'all think of this.

Check out my other stories and tell me what you like in them.

Stay Awesome. :)
