Wooo! Now we have some mixing to do!

***********************************************************************************

The Doctor had landed the TARDIS on a very populated, very crowded place. He had decided that he should lay low for a couple of months, maybe go on a vacation. But it was decided he should part from his beloved TARDIS for the time being. He made sure there was a perception filter on it and if anyone had found it, they would brush it off as they would junk.

Putting his hands in the pockets of his tweed jacket he walked around viewing the place. He saw many spacecraft ships and pinpointed the year around the 26th century. A bleak time if you really thought about it. After the 'Brown-coats' lost, only a few planets thrived. Others wern't so lucky. His head fell down as he thought about Amy and Rory. They would have hated the place, but loved the journey. And River. Oh how he missed her.

Looking up he saw an old man with white jheri curls pulled back and a white moustache. He hobbled along looking at ship after ship. The Doctor got the urge to follow him, so he did. Never once did he go against his urge. The man had been approached by a younger, slick looking boy. The boy spoke at the speed of light, trying to sell the man a trip on his ship. But the man continued to walk. He wasn't interested in it. The Doctor got curious and decided to help him out with carrying his baggage.

"Hello Gramps!" The Doctor said to him patting him on the back. "You need help with that?" The Doctor placed his hands on the bags.

"I never married." He said, but took the offer and handed the Doctor his bags. They were heavy but nothing the Doctor couldn't handle.

"Well I'm sorry to hear that." The Doctor said. "So what should I call you?"

"Book, Shepard Book."

"A religious man eh? That's nice. Some days I wish I could believe in something like that. Trust in something so wholeheartedly." The Doctor zoned out in thought of his past travels and all the evil he's seen.

"So what about you?" Book asked snapping the Doctor out of his zone.

"Excuse me?"

"Are you married?"

"Yes. Well, no not really. Well..." The Doctor pondered. "My wife's in jail at the moment, and I wont be seeing her for a while."

"Me goodness. What happened?"

"She," The Doctor looked down not sure what to say. What could he say. Surely not 'My wife killed me, but I'm, still alive. Just letting her pay the time she doesn't deserve.' Book noticed that the Doctor was having a hard time so he moved on.

"What should I call you son?" He asked. The Doctor smiled his award winning smile.

"I'm the Doctor. Just call me Doctor." They were now passing a girl with a Chinese umbrella twirling in her hands and a blue jacket. Her honey hair pinned up on each side of her head.

"You're gonna come with us." She said to the Doctor and Book. They both turned to the girl.

"Excuse me?" Book asked. She was not only talking to Book.

"You like ships. You don't seem to be lookin' at the destinations, what cha' care about is the ships 'n..." She smiled at him. "Mine's the nicest." She said it so matter of factly. The Doctor looked from the girl to the ship and stared in awe. "You too." She said to the Doctor this time. He did like ships, and this one was calling to him. What he would do to get into it's engine room.

"It don't look like much." Book said. The Doctors head spun to look at him.

"Not much?" He asked. "Good God, it's a Firefly class ship only about, maybe a hundred yeas. A width of 170 feet and a wingspan of 112 feet. Oh if only I could get to the engine room." The Doctor was practically growling in anticipation.

"You ever sailed in a Firefly?" She asked.

"Nope." The Doctor said. "But I would love to."

"I have." Book chimed in. "But long before you both were crawling. The Doctor had a laugh at that.

"So uh." The girl said focusing on Book now. "Why don't you care where you're goin'?"

"'Cause how you get there is the worthier part."

"Are you a missionary?"

"I guess." He bent down to pick up his bags. "I'm Book." She smiled up at him. "And this is the Doctor." He said turning to the Doctor who smiled and waved.

"Well, I'm Kaylee." She said. "And this here's Serenity. And she's the smoothest ride from here to Boros for anyone who can pay." She paused to look at both of them. "Cay you pay? Err." The Doctor fished around in his 'bigger on the inside' pockets for the money he brought with him. Book reached for his bag.

"Well." He said. "I got a little cash and uhh.." He picked up a box and brought it over to Kaylee opening it. She gasped.

"Ooh Gran'pa." She said drooling over the items in the box.

"I never married." He said trying to correct her.
