Everything and everyone calmed down. The Doctor was preparing on being interrogated by many people with many questions on what just happened. He walked around the ship hallways as others had their little side conversation. The looked at him as they did River but it didn't bug him. He's gotten those looks before. He walked passed Simons and Rivers bunk and curiously popped his head in. Simon was sitting on Rivers bed tucking her in comforting her on how the new medication he gave her would help her sleep.

"Just a little while." Simon said. "And then we'll find a place. We'll find safe place." River put her hand on Simons face, tracing his features.

"I didn't think you'd come for me." She said.

"Well you're a dummy." Simon replied making River smile. Happy she could be normal for a short time. They gave each other a hug which, to the Doctor, would last for quite a while if River hadn't noticed the Doctor standing at the door.

"Doctor." She said. Simon looked up to see a curious look on the Doctors face.

"So you need something?" Simon asked.

"Could I talk to your sister for a while? The Doctor asked. Simon looked appalled.

"You know, with all of these questions we have for you I don't think you should even be here." Simon spat.

"So it's a no, then?"

"It's a hell no." Simon said, his voice raising.

"Simon." River said quietly. "I think you should go ask Captain 'bout stayin' here." Simon looked at her then the Doctor. He wasn't happy with the idea of the Doctor alone with River but he did need to talk to the Captain.

"River, I'll be up in the pilots room. Don't hesitate to call me." He said standing up. The Doctor let Simon pass, but Simon was sure to give the Doctor a look when he left. Once Simon was gone the Doctor walked into the bunk.

"Close the door." River said, sitting up in her bed.

"I don't think your brother would like that." The Doctor said looking at it.

"Her brother is an over protective prat. Close it." The Doctor did as he was told. Once the door was closed River patted the side of her bed. The Doctor nodded but sat on Simon bed instead. River rolled her eyes at this.

"River." The Doctor started. "What did you say back in the infirmary?"

"Please don't make her think about the memories she has." River said. "They're not pleasant."

"Ok, fare enough." The Doctor said. There was an awkward pause.

"Doctor?" River asked. "When you said your friend has the same name as her, was she your wife?" The Doctor winced.

"Yes she is my wife." The Doctor corrected.

"What happened?" River asked, liking the normal conversation.

"She killed someone." The Doctor sighed.

"And yet you have so much guilt." River tilted her head like a puppy dog. "Why is that?"

"How do you know me?" The Doctor asked quickly changing the subject.

River paused looking down at her lap. "A distant memory. It hurts her to think about it anymore but the one she see's if forever locked into her mind." River looked into the Doctors eyes.

"And what was this memory?" The Doctor asked feeling a lump in his throat. He didn't want what he thought the answer was to be true, but if it was he would have to do something about it.

"Her very first memory." River said. She paused, the Doctor still waiting for an answer. "She's very pretty. You were very jealous of her hair." The Doctors eyes snapped up to Rivers. Tears welled up in her eyes. "Stop! Simon!" She cried out. "Please, it hurts to remember." River crawled away from the Doctor grabbing her head with her hands. The Doctor was about to ask what was wrong when Simon rushed in.

"What did you do to her?" He demanded to a stuttering Doctor.

"Simon, she- I- And- Bloody hell if I know." The Doctor was out of words for this one. How could he not know? He knew everything. Jayne walked in and grabbed hold of the Doctor.

"Your turn for gut spillin'" He said throwing him out of the bunk and into the hall. Simon followed determined to know who this Doctor was.

Jayne sat the Doctor in a chair and pulled himself up to one too. Everyone but Inara, River, and Wash was there. Mal looked at the Doctor, sighed and sat down beside Jayne, straddling the chair.

"So let's get started." He said.

Hey, so I know it's been forever since I've updated but I promise I will keep them coming. I've been thinking about the other stories I've been working on. One of them is out and you can read it here. It's called Not Alone and it's a Doctor Who Fanfiction as well. There are also others I've been working on, but sadly they arn't Doctor Who related. One is a Fanfiction of Burn Notice and I interjected my own character named Samantha, where she and Michael's crew will help her take down the Company once and for all. They encounter all sorts of things and there are many plot twists because I really like those. Another one I've been working on is a Finfiction of Breakout Kings. This one I used Summer Glau as a character, she's also this this Fanfiction known as River Tam. Summer Glau has another character named Skylar Adams and I'll be using that name and characteristics of her as a background.

If you see those up, go and check them out. I hope you like this addition of the Catching Fireflies and the many more to come.
