When I met back up with Quinn, she was quiet. Whenever I tried to talk with her casually, Denise seemed to pop in, or a call came through. I hated seeing her look so defeated, and I worried about what Denise might have said to her when they were alone.

"You ready to get out of here?" I closed my office door as I walked toward her desk.

"Yes, please. I need a glass of wine and comfy clothes."

"Then you shall have both. Let's swing by, grab your stuff and meet Wade at his place?" She smiled wide, a genuine smile for the first time all afternoon, and nodded. Once we were settled in the car, I couldn't help it any longer and had to ask what had occurred between her and Denise.

"Oh, she was just being catty. Nothing I can't handle." She brushed it off. "I did...I did say something, and I'm sorry, it just slipped out."

"What?" I furrowed my brow. I couldn't imagine anything she would say that would bother me.

"Denise saw us holding hands and rightfully assumed we were dating." I nodded, encouraging her to go on. "But then I dropped the bomb that, I guess, I'm dating Wade too. That I'm dating both of you." She chewed on her bottom lip nervously.

"How did she respond?"

"She seemed amused by it, made some crude remark, and that was it." Quinn paused, her head hung low. "Do you think... Do you think she's up to something?"

"Honestly, babe, I have no idea. I talked to Wade earlier; he was going to see what was up." I reached across the console and took her hand in mine, giving it a squeeze as I glanced her way. "Whatever it is, it'll be fine. We'll be rid of her soon."

By the time we stopped for her things and arrived at Wade's, it was nearly dark. I was surprised to see he wasn't home. I fired off a text to find out what was going on, but it went unread. I tried to hide my concern from Quinn, letting us into the house and making ourselves at home. I even dug around in the kitchen and found enough ingredients to make some dinner. She had slipped away to take a bath in Wades, amazing fucking tub, as she put it. When I saw Wade come barreling through the door, I was thankful Quinn was off soaking. I could tell immediately something was wrong, and the anger on his face even had me a little scared.

"Where's Quinn?" The way he barked out his words had me jumping.

"Your bathtub." I threw the pan of chicken in the oven and gave my hands a quick rinse as he made his way into the kitchen, grabbing water. "What's going on?" I kept my words quiet, not wanting Quinn to emerge just yet.

"The Scholts deal is off. I bought them out." He blurted as if it were nothing. "No more dealings with them, with Denise, the Stevens, none of them."

"Ok, you're going to have to explain this." I grabbed a beer, needing a drink after this day.

"I talked to Denise, then I met with Ben, and I talked with him. At first, he acted innocent, but after I got a call I had been waiting on from a friend at the station, It all started falling into place. That fucker was trying to get Quinn. He's been obsessed with her since she came to town. Before I even met her, before you met her. He's been... he's been stalking her."

"Whoa... Whoa... what?! How did you find this out? Jesus fuck. Should we wait for her? So you can explain it all to her?" I threw the bottle back, letting the liquid roll down my throat. One minute I was just a man enjoying life and the corporate world, and the next, I was in a polyamorous relationship with more drama than any soap opera. My mind was reeling.

"Ugh. I guess we should. I can't believe this shit. Slimy ass fuck, I knew it... I just knew he was up to something, but I never imagined how deep it went."

"Where did you come into the money to buy out that deal? You've been holding out on me, Daddy Warbucks." I was at the refrigerator grabbing another beer when Quinn came out. Her hair piled into a messy bun atop her head; she wore one of my t-shirts and a pair of Wades' sweats that were too big. She looked adorable. I couldn't help standing there smiling at her as she walked toward me. I looked over at Wade, who already looked less stressed and angry, just seeing her as well.

"Daddy Warbucks?" She scrunched her nose up in question.

"Wade here." I nodded, grabbing her and stealing a quick kiss. I couldn't resist with how cute she looked. "Your wine is waiting." I indicated toward the glass I had recently poured for her. She smiled so big my heart melted. She went from my embrace over to Wade, and I waited, wondering how the interaction would go. He smiled down at her before wrapping his arms around her and kissing the top of her head.

"Grab your wine and have a seat; we have lots to talk about."

"Oh no." She looked from me to Wade and back again, chewing on that bottom lip again. If I weren't so concerned about her I'd be annoyed at that move. It drew my attention to her lush lips, and damn I wanted to kiss her. I wanted to kiss her and hold her and let Wade cherish her as well instead of sitting around talking about some fucked up situation. I decided then that once all of this had cleared out, I would take her on a trip. Somewhere tropical. Wade, of course, would come too, and we could enjoy this new relationship without so many outside distractions.

I gave her a smile and led the way to the sofa. Once we were all seated, Quinn nestled up next to me, with Wade sitting anxiously across from us; he began to unravel the mystery that apparently was Ben Stevens.
