SHE COULDNT DESCRIBE IT. NO ONE COULD. For all Ikaris saw was a flash of bright light, light brighter than anything he had ever seen before. It seemed to come from the sun itself, and Akoi seemed to be the one that wielded it, a yell leaving her lips as she threw the energy towards the deviant.
The impact that it made was so bright that it actually blinded Ikaris. He was bathed in yellow light and by the time it died down, the deviant had been reduced to nothing but ash.
Ikaris gaped at the spot where it once was, and at the fact there wasn't even a body after Akoi did what she did. She seemed to be unfazed, but her eyes still had not gone back to their original color. Nor had the bright golden light faded away.
In amazement, Ikaris rose to his feet, and, and that was the first time he noticed that it was quiet. It was completely and utterly quiet, not even the sounds of fighting going on.
He briefly wondered what happened to all the other deviants, but he didn't have to worry for long as Sprite, Kingo; and Sersi came running in view.
All of them bore incredulous looks as they shared the same shock with Ikaris before looking at Akoi's body.
"What happened? What was that?!" Sprite exclaimed, as Sersi quickly rushed towards Akoi to press on her wounds. This caused Akoi to let out a sharp gasp of pain, and it was this pain that seemed to finally bring her back down to earth.
Her eyes stopped glowing, and when she looked at all four Eternals in front of her, she was confused to see them, and not the deviant.
"What...what..."
"It was Akoi," Ikaris quickly explained, dropping back beside her. Everyone rose their eyebrows. "She...she managed to reduce the deviant to ashes with her powers. She...She—"
"You finally figured out how to wield the sun," Sersi whispered to her in amazement, while Akoi's jaw dropped. She was still in shock as it seemed like she had blacked out the entire time. The last thing she remembered was wanting to protect Ikaris, and now he was telling her all of this.
"I...I did?" Akoi was baffled as both Sersi and Ikaris helped her up. She leaned on the latter for support, wounds still aching, but it wasn't bad enough to where it was life-threatening.
"Yes, yes you did." Sersi confirmed.
"And it was incredible," Ikaris praised her. "I've never seen anything like it, my love."
Akoi blushed under his praises, but she was still confused onto how she had done that. She had never in her entire time on earth been able to conjure light that powerful.
And what did you know—she wasn't the only one that had discovered a new power.

They stayed in South America for one more day, just enough time to give Akoi time to heal.
She was an Eternal, which meant that her physical wounds would heal eventually, but the mental would take much longer.
Shortly after the battle, it had been announced that Gilgamesh was killed by the same deviant that had killed Ajax.
It took his power and left Gilgamesh, her old friend, nothing more than a lifeless corpse.
Akoi was devastated when she found out, but her main concern was Thena, who she knew was closer to Gilgamesh than anyone. She spent half of that night comforting her, and the other half with Ikaris as he made love to her.
Then, they all waited for the sun to go down.
Once it did, they had a proper funeral for Gilgamesh and Akoi had sobbed the entire time.
She leaned on her family members who were equally as devastated, and later that night, Ikaris leaned on her as Akoi watched him shed tears for his fallen friend. Ikaris expressed that this was the second time he had found one of their fellow Eternals dead. And he wasn't sure how much more of it he could take.
Akoi simply held him, and that night, the lovers needed each other more than anything else.
Furthermore, it fueled Akoi even more towards the mission. After losing two of her friends, she wasn't sure if she could lose the planet that she loved too, that would include billions.
It drove her to want to protect the planet even more, grateful that Druig had decided to join them. With him they were one step closer to their goal, but Akoi knew that they weren't complete yet.
Not until they had everyone.
Not until they had Phastos, and Makkari.
