TEN MINUTES. IT TOOK TEN MINUTES FOR DRUIG TO PISS him off. Starting from the hug Akoi had given him, and from the lingering glances, Ikaris was starting to regret coming here entirely. Not that he already didn't, but he made sure to keep Akoi separated from Druig as they all gathered into his meeting hall.
Sersi sat with Sprite, Thena sat with Gilgamesh. Akoi wanted to sit with Kingo, but he purposely made his manager sit there, so she had no choice but to sit by Ikaris. Okay—so she did have a choice, but every time she moved an inch he would just move right beside her. So Akoi gave up.
Instead, she focused on the wall as Sersi began to explain their plan. As she explained to Druig that basically their entire existence had been false.
Akoi felt sorry for Druig, because although he didn't show it, he did care for humanity. He cared enough that it hurt him to watch them hurt each other when he knew there was something he could do about it. And now that he realized that he could've done something all along, it was heartbreaking to see the expression on his face.
"You're saying that Ajax knew this entire time?" Druig clenched his fist, looking as betrayed as Akoi had felt. "This entire time we just let them kill each other for the sake of letting them play in their own demise?"
"I know it's a lot to take in," Sersi said, "but we think we can stop it. We just need your help."
"Do you now?" Druig pursed his lips. "And how exactly will I be of use? This is a celestial being we are talking about!"
Akoi sighed.
"Yes, we've already established that. But Dru, who else do we know that can literally control minds?" Akoi reminded him.
"With your powers, we may be able to put it to sleep. We're not looking to kill it...just slow it down," Sersi explained. But Druig still wasn't convinced.
"Slow it down? Until what?"
"Until we can find them a better home," Akoi decided. Ikaris stared at her.
"You want to rehome them, like pets?" He asked her.
"No," Akoi glared at him. "I want to rehome them so that they don't die," She corrected them. "Perhaps we could take them to another planet or—"
"So now we're planning on rehoming the entire human population? I suppose we'll need to create spaceships, too," Ikaris said sarcastically.
