WHEN SHE WOKE UP, HER HEAD THROBBED. Akoi wasn't sure if it was from the wound Ikaris caused or from the painful memories that invaded her sleep. She remembered everything as she opened her eyes, locking eyes with the sun before seeing Ikaris himself make his way in front of her.
He wore sorrow on his face, eyes reading every ounce of betrayal on Akoi's face. She went to stand up, and even then he did not move, for if she was going to destroy him, he was going to let her.
"Where am I?" Akoi demanded to know, looking around freely as she was not restrained. She was surprised that Ikaris had let her be so free, but it was never his intention to lock the sun in a cage. "What did you do?"
"Calm down my love," Ikaris tried to approach her, making Akoi's slap at him slightly. He extracted his his hand, frowning when she stood in a defensive position. "We are at the point of emergence. The rest of our brothers and sisters are here as well."
"You don't get to call them that," Akoi suddenly hissed at him, her eyes blazing with fury. "Not when you killed our mother! Not when you killed Ajax, the only one who ever cared for you besides me."
At this, Ikaris flinched. As harsh as Akoi's words were though, he knew that they were true. None of the other Eternals cared as deeply for him as Ajax had, and especially not Akoi.
And now, he had lost both of them.
"My love, please," He tried to plead for her to understand, reaching out to grab her again but Akoi pushed him off. She backed up, hurt and betrayal on her face as her boots crunched the rocks beneath her. "Don't do this—you cannot stop the emergence. You can't stop destiny."
Akoi gritted her teeth, "No," she said slowly, "but I can stop you."
