Y/n POV ' Yeah yeah I got the cat food already ' I say into the phone while carrying 3 bags of it. ' Alright the door is unlocked for you, see you at home' my brother Jiwoo says. ' Alright see you' I say before hanging up. Why did he want me to buy 3 bags of cat food? This is a lot more than I thought. It's about 5 cats at home at this point. Sometimes I get tired knowing I got to listen to Jiwoo considering he's my brother. He's my big brother so I have to listen to him. Just like him saying we'll have this many cats in the house. I'm convinced he's addicted to cats.
I was almost home before I heard coughing and I looked around seeing nothing. It almost sounded like something was coughing up. The heck did that sound come from?
" Hello?" I ask looking around and I see a extremely scrawny cat. " Oh.." I mumble seeing it look over at me. That thing is ugly but.. It's poor bones are showing. " You poor thing." I say as I set the bags down squatting to see the cat. I pick it up noticing that the cat was a male and neutered. " When's the last time you ate sweetie?" I whisper setting him back down as he stares at me. I rub his head as he looks at me a bit weirdly. " Hm.. I'll take you home with me. I don't think Jiwoo will care since it's another cat." I say as I pick up the bags letting him follow me.
I soon got home and opened the door kicking my shoes off as I call out for Jiwoo.
" Oh hey your hom-" He cut himself off instantly as I set the food down greeting all the cats. " What?" I ask as I pick the cats up cuddling all of them. " M-Mr. Kayden I need you for a second." Jiwoo said walking off as I raised a brow. I fed all the cats as I looked back at the skeleton one I brought in. " Y/n..." I hear a voice and turn seeing it was Kayden in his cat form. " What is it?" I ask as I pick the cat up. " Where'd you um.. Find him?" Kayden asked and I walked and sat on the couch petting him. " He was on the street, I thought he was lost so I picked him up and took him here. I mean he's so skinny. I can't just let him suffer." I say as I cup the cat's face in my palms. " Well..." Kayden trailed off. " He has a name already. He's been here before." Jiwoo states as he sits next to me leaning on me. " Which is?" I ask looking at him. "Kartein." Jiwoo and Kayden say as I nod. " I'm feeding him." I say as I set Kartein down.
Kayden POV I watch as Y/n leaves to the kitchen as I sigh. " Kartein... The hell do you think you're doing?" I ask and he laughs at me. " Nothing honestly. I was taking a walk and transformed into a cat. Then choked on a damn hairball and then she found me." He said rolling his eyes as I roll mine. " Mr. Kartein, Y/n doesn't know about you. She was in a different state when you were here usually." Jiwoo said trying to reason but Kartein shrugged. Jiwoo sighed as he accompanied his sister in the kitchen as I glared at Kartein. " You must like her already." I say as Kartein smirked. " What gave it away?" He sarcastically asked. " Look. Whatever you do, don't hurt her alright? She's pure at the heart like Jiwoo is. Also don't scare the living hell out of if you transform." I say while rolling my eyes. " Yeah, yeah I won't." he mocks as I practice my kitty punches.
* Time-skip to a week later*
Y/n POV I've bonded with Kartein a lot more than I expected. He's a little off, as if he's a human. He understands me and when I struggle with something, he's always somehow there. I remember looking for my necklace and I looked everywhere. Suddenly, I see Kartein walking to me with it in his mouth. A different time when I was looking for a potato bag that I couldn't find. He came out of nowhere dragging it for me.
" Kartein.. Are you human?" I ask playfully as he stops eating and looks at me. " I'm joking." I say playfully as I rub his head as he looks at me a little longer before eating again. I wonder why he paused like that. I got up and was walking upstairs as he stopped eating and hopped up the stairs after me making me giggle a bit. I was about to walk into my room before I felt around for my phone.
" Man I left my phone." I whine as I turn around and walk back downstairs. I suddenly miss a step and I squeal as I start to fall but suddenly feel arms around my waist. I freeze up glancing down at the arms around me.
Alright... Jiwoo is hanging out with Jisuk, Subin, and Wooin. Kayden is out somewhere. The cats are all asleep after I fed them... Then that means I'm alone. I break off from the arms and go down the rest of the steps and rush to the kitchen to grab a knife.
Kartein POV I caught Y/n before she almost fell down the stairs. She suddenly broke off from my arms and ran to the kitchen. I scared her didn't I? " Wait-" I say as I go to the kitchen. " STAY BACK!" She yells as she point a big knife in my direction. " Hold on Y/n-" I get cut off by her. " HOW DO YOU KNOW MY NAME?!" She shouts as I sigh. " Put the knife down and we can talk. You know who I am already." I state calmly looking at her. " Like hell I do!" She shouts as she still has the knife aiming at me. I sigh as I transform into the cat I was before. I look up at her as I feel my ears twitch. " See. You know me. So don't go and shank me like you were before." I say as she drops the knife in shock. She wouldn't be traumatized I believe.... Would she?
Y/n POV " See. You know me. So don't go and shank me like you were before." Kartein said as I drop the knife shocked. This cat... That I've cuddled to sleep with... Held.. Played with... Fed... Hung out with... Is a human? Kayden was one thing but this? How did I never get to know? Imagine if I had showered with him around! " Let me get this straight." I scoff as I pick up the knife placing it on the counter. " You've been living here this long and never decided to let me know you're a human? " I ask as he nods. " Pretty much. " He simply says. " So you're saying.... That Jiwoo and Mr. Kayden already knew? Then the fact you are an awakened? How did I never know? " I ask and he shrugs walking and hopping onto the counter. " This makes absolutely no sense. " I mutter as I sigh with my face in my hands. " There's nothing wrong I mean. I still like you even if you don't like me. " He says as I feel my face get hot suddenly as I look at him. " Like me? " I ask and he nods. " You're very beautiful Y/n. I took a liking towards you, I wasn't going to tell you considering I'm always a cat around you. " He mumbles looking off.
" Respectfully Kartein, it'll take me a minute to decide whether or not I like you eventually. You're always a cat, that looks weird for me. " I say as I look at him. He nods as he jumps off the counter transforming into a godlike man. " Oh damn. " I state looking at him. He's this fine? Nevermind then I'll like him quick. " O-oh." I stutter out as he takes my hand and kisses it while rubbing it with his thumb. " Give me a chance one day hm?" He asked and I rolled my eyes acting like I was thinking before nodding instantly.
* Time-skip a year later*
Y/n POV " Kartein!" I yell across the house while looking for my bracelet. " Hm?" He asked in his cat form as Kayden was practicing kitty punches. " Have you seen my bracelet?" I asked while walking over to him looking around still. " Oh." He says as I walks off and comes back as a human. " Here Love." He says while handing to me as I thank him putting it on. " Where was it?" I ask as I look at him. " The other cats hid it." He shrugged as I nodded. " I have to go though, I'll be back." He says as he pecked my lips before leaving. I smiled like a idiot in love, we've been dating for a month now.
" So it worked out huh?" Kayden asked as I nodded at him. " I'm happy it did." I say while I plopped onto the couch. . . . . . . . . . . I'm really happy it did
