I arrived in New York at almost eleven in the morning. I left Texas at seven this morning. I was stunned by the time difference and how long that flight was. I just spent three hours on a plane with a bunch of strangers and for the first time ever, I found it to be the longest flight of my life. I have flown to many states and even countries in my life because of the restaurant business but none of them have ever felt long. I always enjoyed flying. I always enjoyed my time at the airport but today I quickly left all that behind. I was excited to see Nathan. I could not wait to see him again. Five months was way too long and since I had decided to surprise him today, I did not chat with him yesterday. I missed his voice and his adorable smile. I missed everything about him. I quickly made it to the hotel room where I decided to leave my luggage at for the time being and just as quickly changed my clothes. I remembered all those months ago when Nathan and I first discussed my travel plans, that he liked the Texan cowboy look. I decided to surprise him and bring his fantasy alive. I quickly put on the blue jeans I got in Texas with the denim shirt and the boots I had been wearing for the last five months. I looked myself over in the mirror before chuckling at how ridiculous I looked like this. I quickly put on the hat before leaving my room and leaving the hotel. I made my way down the street in search of Nathan's apartment. He had told me the street name and he showed me the building online the last time we chatted. I walked down the street of New York City before stumbling across a flower shop. I entered the shop and quickly fell into a search for the flowers I would be looking for. I needed to find a mostly rarer type of flower. I searched the flowers on display before walking over to the woman at the front desk. She smiled once she noticed that I was in front of her.
"What can I do for you young man?" She asked with a bright smile and I matched her expression.
"I am looking for some flowers. Do you happen to have some purple Cosmos in stock?" I asked her and her smile never left her face. Her eyes lit up before she walked over to the back of the shop. I waited patiently for her return. I do hope she has these flowers. I knew walking into this store that Cosmos are rare and probably not in season during this time of the year. I knew there was a rare chance of getting them but they were Nathan's favorite flower. I just needed to get them for him. The woman eventually came back to the front with a beautiful bouquet in her hands. My eyes lit up at sight. She actually had purple Cosmos!
"You're in luck sweetie, these are the last ones. Whoever you are giving these flowers to must be very special" She said before ringing up the price of the flowers and I quickly took out my wallet from the really tight jeans. I swear I would never wear these pants if it weren't for such a good occasion. I really am a simp for Nathan. I smiled at the woman before passing her my credit card.
"Yeah, I'm seeing my boyfriend for the first time in a few months and I wanted everything to be special" I explained and she nodded while passing me back the card and handing me the flowers. I smiled in thanks.
"Well I hope you have a good day and I hope he loves those flowers," She said and I nodded before leaving the shop. Time to go see Nathan. I quickly continued my walk down the street until I eventually reached the tall building that I had memorized for this moment. I smiled once I reached Nathan's apartment and buzz his number. I waited patiently for a few moments before I realized he was not there. I would need to wait. I sat down on the step and waited.

I waited for Nathan for what felt like hours but was really only about twenty minutes. I stood there in the cold November air waiting. People passed by me and stared. I felt ridiculous. I was a cowboy standing in New York City in the fall. I felt very out of place. I waited for Nathan. I had assumed he went out for lunch before scolding myself for that thought. He was probably out getting coffee somewhere. Nathan told me that he normally skips lunch but will go out for coffee. I waited a few more minutes pondering over how this reunion will go. What if he did not come home until later? What if he was not excited to see me? He had told me on our last call that he was excited to have me back but when I told him that the restaurant was having its grand opening a few weeks back, he did not seem as excited. Maybe I was reading too much into this. I waited for Nathan nervously with the bubbling excitement in my stomach before I suddenly heard movement behind me and I turned around. I was met face to face with the adorable brown-haired man that I had fallen for all those months prior. I smiled widely.
"Nathan" I exclaimed to grab his attention and he looked up at me. His eyes widened once he noticed that it was indeed me and my face broke out into a giant grin. I could not believe this was actually happening. He was standing right in front of me. He was no longer through a screen, he was here in the flesh. I could not believe how badly I missed him. Nathan ran over to me and I held my smile. He was so unbelievably handsome.
"Well, hello cowboy," He said flirtatiously while smirking, my eyes lit up. I waited for him to make the first move. I was not sure exactly where we stood after the months apart and I did not want to overstep. Nathan smiled softly before rushing into my arms and wrapping his arms around my neck. My smile widened before I picked him up and twirled him around in my arms. Nathan chuckled and I could not contain the happiness I was feeling. This is the reunion I was hoping for. This is the one I had spent hours dreaming of. I placed Nathan down a few moments after finishing my moment of pure joy and kissed his cheek.
"You have no idea how much I missed you. Five months without you is the hardest thing I have ever done" I told him once we pulled away from each other. I presented the flowers to him while smiling softly at him. Nathan took the flowers and took a whiff of them.
"Good because I missed you so much. Eli kept trying to convince me that you wouldn't be coming back and that you had moved on. That's honestly ridiculous, right? He doesn't see what I see" He started rambling and I smiled softly before cupping his cheeks.
"Do not listen to Eli with things like this. He is still upset about his birthday back in fifth grade that I missed. He has every right to be upset. I will need to apologize to him" I reassured him while looking into his eyes while casually glancing at his lips a few times. I really wanted to kiss him.
"It's not your fault Owen. You had a really bad year back then and your uncle had just died. He will understand if you just explain it how you explained it to me" He reassured me while touching my arms and quickly retracting back. My eyes widened in panic at his reaction before calming down.
"Let's get you inside. It's freezing out here and you're not exactly dressed for New York weather in the fall" He said while chuckling and I realized that he only pulled away from me because of how cold I was to the touch. Nathan smiled before taking my hand and pulling me into his apartment building. I felt the warmth instantly wrap around me once we had entered the building. It felt nice. I had not realized how cold I was this entire time. I seemed to have been able to ignore it when I saw Nathan. The excited boy pulled me to the elevator before leaving me on the couch once we arrived at his apartment. I looked around at the tiny little place that had a really impressive view. You could see everything from out the window. I could see why Nathan liked it here. It must be a prime spot for taking pictures. I watched my boyfriend in his kitchen before sighing. I really wanted some cuddles right now to help warm me up. Why was he in the kitchen?
"What are you doing? I want cuddles" I whined and Nathan chuckled.
"I'm making something to warm you up and to satisfy that sweet tooth of yours" He explained while making the caffeinated drink that we share in common. I would not mind some coffee but I wanted cuddles. I just wanted to hold my boyfriend close. I had spent too long without being able to do that. Why was he making me wait even longer?
"I don't need a macchiato to warm me up. I only need your cuddles but I will take the coffee if you're offering" I told him and I could tell that he was rolling his eyes in the kitchen. I waited impatiently for a few moments before Nathan finally walked over to me with two cups of hot caramel coffee. I did not think he should be having more coffee but I did not care about that. I opened my arms for him to sit in them and he rolled his eyes before sitting in my arms. I wrapped my arms around him with a smile on my face. This was the best feeling. This was happiness. I was finally holding the man that I was utterly in love with. This was everything.
Chapter Three for you lovelies. Owen is finally back in New York and Nathan is safely back in his arms! This is pretty much Owen's point of view in chapter nine of the first book. We get to see him buy the flowers for his boy, we get to see him get dressed in the ridiculous cowboy getup and we see their reunion. It's cute and I'm all here for cute. I hope you all enjoyed this chapter.
