Chapter 5

We were back in our bedroom and I had nearly forgotten about the dream and everything until Knox's phone rang. He withdrew his mouth away from mine and grabbed his cell, glancing at the caller ID.

"I've to take this." He whispered, walking a few inches away from me as I nodded my head in response.

I stood idle near the wall, hearing the man on the other end as Knox took the call. It was from someone unfamiliar but it sounded like one of his men.

"Yeah, what's the problem?" Knox whispered, his voice low as whisper but loud enough for my senses to catch his every word.

I turned toward the closet, grabbing a towel or two while my attention remained focused on the call. When the man spoke, my senses heightened, "Someone reported an appearance at the woods. A wolf. One of our own. It was there a while earlier and when we tried to chase it down, it sped. It was faster than any of us and went down east. We couldn't follow him for long, Alpha."

I placed the towels against my chest and took in a breath before heading toward the washroom. "I'm going for a shower, Knox." I told him while rushing inside the closing the door behind.

My heart drummed in my chest. How could it be possible? It had to be Cain. But did that mean the dream was somewhat real? Was he here? Inside the town? Lingering around me? Mind connections made from afar were nearly impossible. He must've been inside the territory all this while I was dreaming, which meant, he was closer than we all assumed.

He was here.

With Gideon.

I stripped my clothes and hurried into the shower, hoping not to hear anymore of the conversation occurring between Knox and one of his men. Warm water spilled over my face and my hair, wetting my locks. Tension tightened in my body. Hiding the sword was the right thing but I feared that Cain would still be able to find it.

We only held the sword over them. Without it, we were weak.

More than that, I feared Cain could possibly coax me into giving the sword to him somehow. He had marked me, there was some sort of control he had over me that still made me want to submit to him, to listen to him, to make him happy.

It was ludicrous.

I pressed my eyes shut, trying to forget him once more. It became harder especially since he had finally managed to appear in my dreams.

Warm water flowed down my body and steam formed in the washroom. I heaved in a breath as an hand came wrapping around my waist. My first thought was Cain but he wasn't here.

He wasn't here.

I opened my eyes, turned around and met with a naked body, "Knox," I breathed out a sigh of relief. What was wrong with me? How could I still want Cain after what he had done? "What are you doing here?"

His hands moved over my waist as his skin met with mine, forming a heat between us. "Showering with you," He whispered, leaning in and pressing his head against my face. "And maybe more." My skin tingled as his hands lowered to my ass.

Desire stained his face. I curled my arms around his neck before our lips collided at the same time. I kissed him hard, forgetting everything about his brother and whatever we shared. There was only one and it was Knox.

I loved him.

I moaned softly as he slanted his mouth, kissing me even deeper. Our bodies pressed harder. His cock stiffened against me. I took a deep inhale before parting my mouth from him. My gaze ran over his face and my thumb over his stubble jaw. Water dripped from his thick lashes. My insides screamed for him—my heart screamed for him.
