Chapter 16

Hot cum leaked down to my thighs as I snatched the phone away from Cain. He was hesitant to give it to me. I needed it. "I have to call him. He must've been worried-sick about me. Simon must've told him that I never returned home." I said, concern lacing in every inch of my tone.

I grabbed onto my shirt and looped my arms in, covering my naked self even when I was dirty and in a dire need of a shower. Before anything, I needed to reach Knox and tell him at least a bit of what happened.

But I had to avoid mentioning that his brother's cum was dripping down my legs.

He'd be furious and even more concerned about me.

"Fine. Call him. If that's what you want." Cain's mouth lined straight and he folded his arms across his chest while standing on the other side of the room.

It took me a moment to remember Knox's number. It wasn't in the back of my head since I had barely ever called him before but once I remembered, I dialed it and held the phone to my ears.

The panic set in my chest. Cain gave me a glare in the silence. The call kept ringing but Knox didn't pick up. At the fourth ring, my heart jumped at the sound of the ring shifting.

I turned away and faced the wall while my head lowered. "Hey." I whispered.

"Candice?"

"Yes," I gulped upon hearing the tension knotting in his voice. I couldn't imagine what he must've been thinking. He was already worried about me leaving Thornwood and meeting my family. "I—I'm okay now."

"What happened?" He asked.

"I—" I glanced over my shoulder, noticing Cain hearing our conversation even though it seemed like he was preparing to take a shower. I didn't trust him enough to tell the truth. "I can't tell you now but I'm okay. Something bad happened. Just—just don't contact my family and don't come anywhere near here. I'm safe here. I'll get on a flight tomorrow afternoon and I'll come to Thornwood." I couldn't tell him all the details either, not until I had seen him.

"But, what happened?" He repeated. "Did someone hurt you? Did your family do something? Fucking hell. I knew it! Where are you? I'll come take you by myself. Just tell me where you are, Candice."

"No, no," I shook my head, panic rising in my voice. I didn't want Knox to even leave Thornwood for his own safety. "Don't do anything. Please. I'll come in the morning. I promise and we'll talk."

I heard him take a deep breath before there was nothing expect for silence—a long extended silence and I knew where this was going. "Who are you with?"

I pursued my mouth, holding my own breath back. My chest tightened once more. I was too afraid to say the truth but I couldn't lie about everything. Turning around, I still found Cain near to the window, bare back leaned against the wall while he listened to us.

"I'm with Cain." I mumbled under my breath. My shoulders stiffened and I bit down on my bottom lip hard while pacing back and forth in the room. Anxiety tightened in my throat. Only shallow breaths left my mouth.

There was another long silence before I heard from Knox, "It's okay. Be safe."

"I am—for now." I looked up at Cain, grinning at me. He knew well what he was pulling me into and he did it intentionally. I couldn't have resisted him if we were in a bedroom, all alone.

"You'll be. Call me when you get on the flight and if you anything, tell me, Candice. I'll come for you if you need me to." He sounded stern and I believed him.
