Chapter 51

"He killed the rogue, didn't he?" I asked Lucy as she paced inside the room with her hands over her hips and a smile still lingering on her face as if she had done something great. Surely, Grandpa was going to be proud of her since he was the one who had set her up to deceive me and then hold me hostage.

Mom was right. She warned me he wouldn't hold down and that he was indeed a powerful man. His hand reached everywhere.

"Yes, he did. You were only supposed to feed from those that have been poisoned. But you found a loophole quickly and we couldn't let that happen. Ethan's work was done anyway so he knocked you out and dragged you here." She explained to me.

I rose a brow in suspicion, "And what is he getting out of all this?" I was still in disbelief that he had betrayed his own blood.

But for what?

"He doesn't know about Fergus or what I plan to do with you. He rather enjoys watching you suffer and wouldn't care. His priority as of now is heading back to the estate, killing the twins, and taking over their position as the Alpha. And with the council abolished, he would become one without any questions asked."

My lips parted but I refrained from gasping. This was the reason why Ethan had been helping Knox and asking for my forgiveness. He wanted what they had.

Her fingers wrapped around the bag resting near the door and she threw it over her shoulder before unlocking the door. I crawled forward with my hands and noticed the chain around my ankle. It was tight, stiff. I couldn't pull it out even with the bare strength I had remaining.

"You're leaving?" My brows closed.

She turned and gave me another wicked smile, "Yes. My work here is done. The rest Ethan will take care of. By morning, you won't be yourself and once you lose control, you'll want everything your grandfather has dreamed for you and Gideon. A new order. His work will be done and so will be mine."

I tugged on the chain. My eyes widened a little at her words.

"Let me fucking go!" I screamed, as loud as I could possibly. Raw pain clung to my throat and I slammed my mouth shut before swallowing hard. "Fucking bitch." I whispered.

A moment after she left, Ethan walked in. He wore a thick jacket, protecting himself from the cold wind outside. I knew we were in town somewhere, but I didn't know where. More time had passed.

Where were they?

"And it ends where it begins..." He reached closer to me and stood tall while I remained seated on the ground.

Suddenly, he stopped on his tracks upon hearing a loud click from the door. She had locked us inside the room. Dread washed over Ethan's face before he rushed back over to the door and tried to open it. Even after countless tries, it was still locked.

"Open the door!" He yelled.

I gathered my strength and rose up from the ground. The shackle made a clanking noise as I moved forward but I only could get far enough. I still couldn't reach for him and rip his head apart for what he had done and what he was about to do.

"Unlock the fucking door, Lucy!" He screamed once more and this time, he rammed his fists into the door.

There was no sound outside. Lucy wasn't anywhere near the room. She had left, but I knew she wouldn't go far away.

But why did she lock Ethan with me?

A smile swept over my face as I understood her intentions. She wanted me to kill her out of bloodlust as she didn't care much about his existence.

A moment later, a crippling silence spread inside the room. Ethan turned his eyes away from the door and onto me. Upon finding me on my feet, he seemed a little surprised but hid it well.

"Scared?" I asked.

His face was red with anger as he began to understand Lucy. He stepped forward and gave his head a shake while his eyes darkened. He spread his hands on the sides and his claws elongated. I let out a shaky breath and stepped back.

"Have you forgotten what I am? Or shall I remind you?" He said, rage laced in his tone as he began nearing me with something wild and dangerous in his face. "You might think you're something with their protection, but right now, it's just you and me. They aren't going to come and save you, nor is anyone else. You're weak and you're going to rot without any blood and I'll watch every minute of it."

"They'll come," I mumbled under my breath.

They always did. One way or the another, they'd find me and save me.

I knew it.

He chuckled, "They aren't coming, Candice. And once they learn about your death, it will be a lot easier to kill them as they grieve and take their title."

"I'm immortal." I reminded him while backing away. Whilst I couldn't die, I could lose a lot of blood—all of it that I had and without blood, I would lose control, becoming the darkness.

He stomped all the way to me and grabbed me by my throat while letting his claws tear the flesh around my neck. I choked on my breath as he pulled me up to the wall. Blood dripped down my shoulders and onto the ground beneath.

"Looks like you won't be for long..." He whispered while pushing an inch of his claws into my stomach.

I hissed in pain while my knees buckled. He sank them deeper into my stomach and pain sliced through me. My head lowered and I screamed as loud as it was possible. Tears stung in my eyes. I couldn't die like this. Even when I tried, there was no strength left within me.

Please.

He pushed his claws all the way into my stomach, drawing out the rest of the blood inside my body.

Ahh!
