Butler stays with her as i go with Holly to get the car.

"Who is she?" Holly asks, a voice coming out of no where.

"She told me her name is Ashly Miller, but Butler says she told him her name is Nathasha Brown. So we don't know her real name."

"And why is she another unfortunate soul that has fallen into your sights?"

I ignore the jab, "She's part fairy. Right now, her eyes are closed, but when she opens them, you'll see very clearly her right one is dark blue, and her left one is red."

She nods, "Why is she now unconscious?"

I know she won't like my answer, she won't like the fact that im kidnapping her, but i have to tell her, i need to trust her, it's what a good friend would do....i think, if my calculations are correct.

"Well" I sigh, "When i asked her to come with us peacefully, she said no."

I can feel Holly's burning stare.

"And so i.... might have told Butler to knock her out."

"You're kidnapping her?!" Holly's reaction is just how i predicted, "Like you did to me? D'arvit Artemis! What were you thinking?!"

I glance around to check that no one has noticed the air yelling at me.

"It's the only way to get her to come with us. What if she has fairy magic? What if she can heal like you do?"

"You didn't have to do it like this though!"

"I asked her politely at first, but she still didn't want to come" I turn away in shame, she's right of course.

"Your version of polite is very different to everyone else's, Fowl!" i imagine her eyes blazing.

"I'm sorry" I mutter, "I just didn't know what else to do."

She sighs, after a while of stewing in anger, she asks another question, "How did she get away from Butler?"

I'm glad for the change of topic, "i don't know. They moved so fast, i couldn't really make sense of what i saw, just blurs of movement. But i did see her bitting Butler elbow at one point."

"Bitting Butler's elbow?" She sounds surprised.

"Yes. Peculiar way to defend, but it worked for her. If it weren't for you, she would have escaped."

"Yeah, about that, when i blasted her, any normal human shouldn't have had enough time to protect herself. I supposedly would have gotten a clear shot to her head, knocking her out immediately, now her arms are burnt"

it took a second for me to understand her question, "Well, she just took up Butler in a fight, and came out alive, so i'd say she isn't exactly normal."

"What about her ears, Artemis? I saw them, they're not pointed, they're like natural human ears, all rounded and weird."

I shrug, "She could have gotten plastic surgery, like Opal did. Maybe her parents did it to her when she was younger so she can't remember?"

"But she's not short"

Yes, i'd been thinking about this. She doesn't seem the type to risk the loss of her fairy magic by doing the same operation that Opal did, or maybe she didn't know the risks? No, she would have done thorough research, she might be a lot of things but stupid or unprepared isn't one of them, that, i know for sure. Strangely, i think we share a lot of characteristics, always planning the next thing, never making decisions that haven't been thought over again and again. She's definitely a work of art.

I sigh, "We'll just have to see what happens"

She's silent for a moment.

"I saw the last part of the fight. How she matched Butler in a direct fight it's.... astounding. And she's smart. If she gets on the wrong side of The People, it could be a real problem."

"I know Holly, more reason to get the tests and possibly a memory wipe, done and over with"

"How did you get there so fast? Were you following me?"

"Foaly thought you might be up to something again, going to that party. He thought you would sell more fairy technology or something, so he sent me to keep an eye of you. I lost you in the fire though and it took me some time to find you in that ally. What were you doing at the party anyways?"

"Stoll - the owner of the house and host of the party - said he had a tiny book he found. He described the Book of the fairies perfectly, so i had to go and get it off his hands"

"Are you sure it burned in the fire?"

"About 83% sure, i'll send Juliet to check"

"No need, i'll tell the Commander"

"Gracias"

"De nada"

We arrive at the car. Holly fights me over who get to drive. She argued that she's older, which makes sense, so i let her sit in the driver's seat, until i made her audibly admit that her feet are too short to reach the pedals. i smirk. I get the wheel.
