I don't have any evidence for Morrigan's open confession, how she knew that i wasn't recording? i'm not sure, my best guess is that she has something that resembles Butler's electronic device sensor. I had predicted that, which is why i left my phone with Butler when i saw her in the cafe, before approaching her.
But now i have her confession, a solid confession to her crimes, and though my word in itself may mean close to nothing in court, it's definitely enough to start an investigation. Morrigan thinks she has scared me off, but if she thinks a little threat is going to stop Artemis Fowl The Second, she's dead wrong.
I called Holly and Butler along with Juliet to my room already, their focusing eyes are all trained on me.
Holly started before i could open my mouth, "Well, Artemis? What are we all doing here? News on Ashly?"
"Precisely, also, she goes by the name Morrigan now" I reply. I relay to them the conversation earlier today.
"Morrigan has admitted to the murder and confessed just how she did it, i do not have recorded evidence though, it was an unexpected meet, and she would have noticed had i recorded"
Holly sighs while Butler just looks on calmly, he had been outside when i went into the shop to confront Morrigan, i had noticed her though the window, and i decided that Morrigan wouldn't open up if Butler was around, so i'd made him watch from outside. He hated every second of it.
Juliet spoke up, "So how do we prove anything?"
"I'll deal with that. Mostly, i just wanted to fill you all in. I trust Foaly can track her though security cameras?"
Holly nodded, "Probably, i can convey the information"
"That would be helpful."
"Foaly can listen in on and monitor phone calls, too. i could get him to spy on Morrigan that way"
I smile, "That's great. Yes, that would definitely come on use"
Butler's deep voice finally rumbles out, "Morrigan is a trained assassin, Artemis, and she is very much alert, she would notice us very soon"
"She will, but i hope to have our evidence by the time she does. I trust you all" I say very openly, letting the truth of that statement sink in.
Holly clears her throat, "Well, i will need to leave now to go back to headquarters. Heaven has been hell lately with all the tourists" She jumps out the window, turning invisible right as her mechanical wings take flight.
Butler bows his head, "I will get to making dinner, Artemis"
Juliet follows her brother out.
I sit down at my desk and close my eyes, Morriagn's image surfaces into my mind. An image of her smiling, the one moment when i made her giggle before our chess match. I try to push it away, i try to remind myself that she's a cold-blooded killer, someone who doesn't care for human life. Someone who needs to be blood-tested and mind-wiped. Someone who needs to be locked behind bars. Someone who deserves to be weighed down in chains.
The picture of Morrigan's smile is quickly replaced by my dream. I suck in a breath and tear my eyes open, her face still burned into my retinas.
I've been having the same nightmare every night now. Waking up in sweat, grasping at the bed sheets and breathing heavily. I'm losing sleep because of it. Dark circles are more prominent underneath my eyes, weighing down heavily. Butler must have noticed the change, but decided against asking about it, trusting me to get over whatever im going though, but i'm sure he won't hold back the question much longer.
These aren't normal dreams. People do have reoccurring dreams - this happens more in women than in men - but to have the same nightmare every night, and to wake up remembering every detail to vividly is unusual. I need to do research about this.
I rub my eyes. I need to sleep, but i don't want to revisit the nightmare. If this keeps ongoing, i might start developing Somniphobia.
My laptop screen is bright, too bright on my tried irises.
i search: How do I stop having the same dream?
