' not really my scene either '

— ALEX MORENO LOVED PARTIES. A lot. He found an unorthodox solace in the harsh LED lighting, defaced domiciles, and his absolutely hammered peers.

Most of all, he loved how no one entirely remembers what happens at a party. It felt like Las Vegas to him. Aside from incomprehensible posts on social media discussing the event, a complete recollection of the night was hard to conjure up. Whether alcohol and marijuana was altering your mind or the chaos alone was to blame for the memory loss didn't matter, just know you'd be waking up the next morning with crusty makeup and lines indented into your skin from sleeping in the same clothes you'd gone out in.

So, it came as no surprise to Lily and Saya when Alex had gotten word of a party, and was now using up their lunch break to rave about the function. "I will actually get on my knees right here and beg."

"I'm not going!" Saya exclaimed, taking a quick sip of her apple juice, "Last time we went to a party a dude broke his entire leg and you threw up in a bush."

"That's literally the whole point of a party."

"Shut it, Alex, you fell into the pool twice." Saya demanded.

"Stop bringing that up, 'Miss I-Accidentally-Drank-Spiked-Punch-And-Almost-Went-Home-In-A-Police-Cruiser'!"

"At least—"

"Will you two shut up."

Upon Lily's request, the two did, in fact, shut up.

"We're all going," Alex stated, "Wear something nice, I wanna take pics."

Saya heaved out a sigh, "Fine, but if they play any song by Drake then I'm leaving."

"Fair enough."

Alex seemed especially thrilled about this party, going on and on about how the host, Tate Mitchell, was absolutely loaded and has never held a party where less than half the school attended. Lily seemed to be listening intently throughout the whole rant, but Saya's attention was quickly stolen.

"Hey guys," She spoke up, looking off into the distance while her friends glanced up at her, "I've gotta go do something real quick, I'll be right back."

As Saya headed off, Lily looked to Alex, wondering if he reciprocated her confusion, "What is up with her lately?"

Alex shrugged, "I don't know. I called her last night but it went straight to voicemail, she texted me after saying she was in the middle of something but that's it."

Lily stabbed some fries with her fork, a thousand questions running through her mind. Saya had always been a private person, but this felt different. "It's probably nothing— oh."
