Steve McGarrett finished reading the newest entry that his wife, Bailey, had left for him in the memory book. He closed the book and placed it on the coffee table. He looked over at Bailey. While he had been reading, his wife had made the two of them coffee and rested her head on his shoulder. Her coffee cup was now on the coffee table and she was asleep, her head on the other side of the sofa. Steve stood up and put a blanket on his sleeping wife. He then went upstairs and put on his running clothes. He came back downstairs and check on Bailey. She was still asleep. After making sure his wife was alright Steve went out for his early morning run.
Bailey McGarrett woke up fifteen minutes after her husband left for his morning run. She got up off the couch, went upstairs, took a shower, and got dressed. She then went back downstairs, went into the kitchen, and began to make breakfast for her husband and herself. Steve returned from his run just in time for breakfast to be ready to be served.
Steve followed his nose, entered the kitchen, and said, "Smells good, Vi."
Bailey looked up from plating the food, smiled, wrinkled her nose, and replied, "Wish I could say the same for you. Go take a quick shower and we'll eat."
Steve smiled at her, wrinkled his nose, nodded, left the kitchen, and went upstairs to shower.
While Steve went upstairs to shower Bailey made two fresh cups of coffee and put them on the dining room table. She then set the table with the couple's breakfast and little extras. Steve came back downstairs freshly washed and in clean clothes.
He walked over to his wife and asked, "Better, Vi?"
Bailey wrapped her arms around her husband, snuggled into his chest breathed deeply, and answered, "Perfect."
Steve wrapped his arms around his wife in return and kissed the top of her head.
Bailey extracted herself from Steve's arms, looked up at him, and said, "Let's eat."
Steve nodded his head, went over to his chair, and sat down. Bailey turned back to her chair and sat down. The McGarretts ate their breakfast, enjoying each other's company.
"This is good, Vi." Steve complimented.
"You've eaten my cooking before, hun. No need to sound so surprised." Bailey teased.
"Cute," Steve replied with a sarcastic smirk.
"Thank you," Bailey responded cheekily.
Steve rolled his eyes and continued to eat his breakfast. Bailey grinned at her husband. She took a sip of her coffee, put her cup down, and gave a contented sigh. Steve looked at his wife concerned. He took a few minutes to study his wife's face. He noticed that she looked happy and peaceful. Steve's concern melted and he thought he could see some of the woman he married shining through. If he was being honest with himself and thinking about it honestly. He saw more and more of that woman little by little every day.
"I noticed that you wrote a part one at the top of the last memory, babe," Steve commented.
"I've been trying to take Dr. Ghee's advice and try to live with the memories instead of running for the book to record it," Bailey told him.
"You wrote the first part down with no issues. Are you expecting trouble with the second part?" Steve asked concerned.
"A little. The first part came easy. I've been slowly getting the rest, but I'm trying not to force it just in case it triggers a migraine." Bailey explained.
"Sounds like a good plan," Steve affirmed.
"Well, no use getting advice from your doctor if you're not going to take it," Bailey said lightly.
