HONOR AMONG THIEVES: THE LEGEND OF AKIRA

PT. 13 THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE

Akira stood face to face against Noctis, the knew leader of Akira's former thief group. Nokia and Falco were busy fighting the other members of the group. Noctis gave Akira an evil smile.

NOCTIS
Well Akira, are you just going to stand there or do you actually plan on doing something to try and stop me?

Akira didn't say anything. She just stood there. Feeling her silent rage grow. She clenched her fist as she thought about all pain and suffering. All the lives lost. And for what. Greed, ambition, power. What ever Noctis' true motives were, it didn't really matter. All that really mattered now was stopping him.

AKIRA
Just so you know I never wanted any of this. I wish I knew just how unhappy you were back then. Maybe we could've figured something out found a way to do things that satisfied everyone.

NOCTIS
Ha! I doubt that. See there's something else you don't know about me.

AKIRA
What would that be?

NOCTIS
Well long before I even joined the group I realized that I whole heartedly enjoy killing people. The excitement watching my victims last moments beig filled with fear. The feel of their warm blood spilling onto my skin. The sounds of their screams and groans of pain. It's all just so exciting. Just thinking about it now, oh I just wanna start plunging my blade into some flesh. So I guess you'll do.

AKIRA
You're sick. The fact that I never saw any of this makes me question my leadership even more. But I guess none that matters now. I won't let you hurt or kill any more people Noctis.

NOCTIS
Stop me.

AKIRA
I will.

Noctis grabbed an axe from the nearby weapon rack and changed Akira. Akira took out her dagger and readied herself. Noctis swung at Akira. She dodged. Again he swung and again Akira dodged.

NOCTIS
How do you plan on stopping me if you don't fight?

AKIRA
Don't worry about that. I have a plan.

NOCTIS
You and your plans. Lot of good they did you that night of the fire huh.

Noctis laughed as he kept attacking. Akira continued to avoid him. As the fight drew out, Akira noticed that Noctis began swinging his weapon slower. He was tiring himself out. Which was exactly what Akira wanted. She dodged his next swing, dropped down and tried tripping him. But he jumped over her leg.

NOCTIS
Nice try.

He kicked her hard. Sending her backwards.

AKIRA
Gah.

Akira landed flat on her back. Noctis began walking up to her.

NOCTIS
I know all your little tricks. You won't be able to catch me off guard so easily.

Noctis swung the axe down towards Akira. She quickly rolled out of the way. The axe got stuck in the floor. As Noctis tried pulling it out, Akira grabbed some rope and threw it around him.

NOCTIS
I told you, your tricks won't work on me.

Noctis grabbed his end of the rope and yanked. Akira didn't have time to let go. She got pulled forward and crashed to the ground. Noctis ran up and kicked Akira in her side. She was sent rolling. It hurt so bad she couldn't even scream. All the air had been driven out of her.

AKIRA
(thinking to herself) Damn it. I think he cracked one of my ribs.

After a few seconds Akira caught her breath. Though she almost wished she hadn't. Due to her rib it hurt just to breathe. Noctis stood watching as Akira slowly made it back to her feet.
