"What?" Barty asked as if he was not cutrently straddling Evan. It was a possibility that Barty did not have a sense of shame. He looked Regulus in the eye as he sat there with his lips swolen and parted, the buttons completely undone on his shirt. Evan sat up quicky pussing Barty off of him. He buttoned up his own shirt with a speed that Regulus had never seen.

"We were just-" Evan began before Regulus cut him off.

"You know what."Regulus said rubbing his eyes. Maybe if he pushed hard enough the image of the two would leave his brain. It seemed to be burned onto his eyes rather. He could see it still even with his eyes shut. "I don't even care." He shook his head as he continued. "Just maybe no sex in the dorm?" Regulus offered shrugging. Barty was outraged.

"Where the bloody hell else are we supposed to do it?" He asked spreading out his arms. Regulus paced the floor infront of him. Barty had done up the buttons on his shirt. He sat next to a red faced Evan in his bed.

"There's an entire castle. Get creative." He deadpanned. Evan rolled his eyes and uncrossed his legs. He sat has elbows on his knees and leaned forward.

"We aren't going to do it." Evan said rather sternly. Barty looked confused

"What do you mean?" Barty asked him with a hint of venom in his voice.

"I mean," Evan said glaring at the boy. "The only reason you're doing this" Evan said waving a hand between the two. "Is because it will piss of your parents." Barty stood now mouth hanging open. His expression quickly changed to one of pure rage.

"Will you quit fucking saying that?!" Barty yelled. He was always loud, but his voice was now shaking with anger.

"When it stops fucking being true!" Evan yelled back, but he sounded hurt. Evan never yelled, he was always the silent killer. He would whisper quiet venomous words, striking in the places he knew would hurt the worst. Regulus made his way to the door. Waiting to see if the fight became physical. "You don't want me." Evan said. The words were limp, quiet and sad. Barty shook his head eyes softening.

"I do," barty said even as the other boy was shaking his head.

"No" Evan said

"I do." Barty told him again stepping forward.

"Don't touch me!" Evan yelled at him, but Barty did anyway. He stepped forward and cupped his cheek. And Evan melted into him. The two leaned back into Evans bed and shared one of the purest kisses Evan had ever seen. The drapes fell around them leaving them to the privacy of their own bed.

"Oi!" Regulus yelled "I just told you no sex in the dorm!" Barty reached around the drapes and flipped him off. Regulus laughed ad he turned and left the dorm. He didn't much fancy sitting in a room knowing his friends were probably shagging a few walls away.

So he left, he walked a lap around the second floor of the castle. He looked out the window and over the hogwarts grounds. He noticed a few people sitting in the courtyard. And then he looked out over the lake. He saw Narcissa setting on the edge of the dock by the lake. There weren't many people around, and for some reason Regulus needed to go down to her.

She hadn't spoken to him since that day nearly a month ago now. She had left wordlessly that morning. Or maybe that night. Regulus didn't know, he must have been in James's bed. warmth flowed through him as he made his way to the exit. He could do that now. At least he thought he could. They really needed to figure things out better. Was he really allowed to sleep in the same bed. Where they just the same as always? Spinning around eachother but never touching.

The crisp cold air bit at his cheeks even though the snow had began to melt leaving way for the mild spring to come the chill was still all around him melting its way down to his core. Before he knew it he was sitting on the end of the dock.

The lake was beautiful really. He never really spent enough time outside the castle on the grounds. The old wood of the dock creaked under his weight as he sat at the edge, daring to let his feet set over the edge.

"How are you?" He asked still facing forward.

"Fine." She replied. Regulus didn't really expect much from her. And he didn't quite believe her when she said that she was fine. She did however turn her head to look at him. Her gaze was fixed on him for a long time.

"And the- well, your?" Regulus began nodding down toward her stomach

"As well as it could be." She rested a hand on her abdomen. It wasn't showing year, she must have only been two or three months along

"And did you tell him?" Narcissa's eyes froze finally meeting his own.

"Yeah" She finally let out after a moment.

"How'd he take it." Regulus asked her.

"He's- we're happy." She said nodding. "Obviously we would have waited, but I'll be leaving hogwarts this year. And Lucius will finish next year. I'll he home with the baby, it'll work out."

"Did Andy write you back then?"

"Yeah, same night actually." Narcissa told him." Told me I had to tell him. Told me I'd be a good mum. Keep my baby safe." They were too wrapped up in their conversation that the rest tf the world had been blocked out. They didn't notice the cracking of footsteps on the old wood behing them. A single tear dropped from Narcissa's eye. Andromeda had been the closest any of the younger cousins had gotten to a real mother.

"What the fuck did you do to her?" Lucius yelled, all but picking Narcissa up and pushing her behing him. Regulus rolled his eyes.

"I didn't do anything." Regulus told him with a glare that should have landed him in the ground. "Now why don't you fuck off and leave us alone."Lucius took and angred step forward pointing his wand at him.

"It'd do you well to leave my wife alone."Regulus could have laughed at him.

"She's not your wife mate." The word wad foreign to him. He felt like he waschannelijg his older rbrother in that moment, using language that he would have. He decided to use something else his brother had once said. "And honestly drawing on an unarmed wizard is shameful." He pushed the other boys wand away from him. Lucius snarled at him. His jands connected with Regulus shoulders, sending him stumbling.

There he was on the edge, the world froze for a moment. Narcissa had a hand outstretched as if she could have saved him. Lucius's eyes widened he himself was frozen in shock. He let out a short scream just before he hit the water. He hear Narcissa let out a scream to match.

He dropped a few feet. At first he panicked. He had never learned how to swim. Hell, he couldn't even float. And it wasn't necessarily a calm day on the lake. He struggled to hold his breath knowing he would have to eventually give up. "Get it together Regulus" he tried t tell himself. He was looking up toward the light. He could see the pillars of the dock and e thoughtt for a moment that if he could grab one then he could pull himself up. And then he took a breath in.

The water surprisingly burned as entered his lungs. When you think of water you think peace, it's supposed to put out the fire. Supposed to be calm. But in the moment the serenity was gone. In that moment the waves were war. And he was on the losing side. He didn't mean to breathe in. But he couldn't help it. At a certain point when you're holding your breath your body forces itself to breathe. Fitting, Regulus thought. After all he had always been the one inflicting pain upon himself. It was fitting the he would be the one to make the final blow. He looked up through the murky water and he saw someone coming down towards him. Sirius, he thought, it had to be Sirius. Sirius always saved him. He took in another involuntary breath, his lungs filled to the capacity with the liquid. The world went black around him his final thought before the nothingness that consumed him was.

This is it, Sirius is going to watch me die. And he couldn't help but hurt, not for himself but for his brother who never could save him.
