Little T/W for child abuse in this chapter. I'll mark it beginning and end for you, and skip to the end for a less graphic description to fill in any plot points you might have missed there.
○○○The cold plastic burnt into his skin. It was ironic how it was supposed to do the opposite. But the thobbing in his face had taken over his entire body. Kreatcher had brought him a pack of frozen peas and they were resting on his cheek.
He had known that from the moment Monty had told him he was returning home that he wouldn't be safe. He knew mother was going to make him pay for it. He had publicly embarrassed the family. They were going to kill him
That is if they had another heir. It all came quickly to Regulus why they never let him go. Sirius had already ruined his public image. But that's why they had two. And why would they need the rule breaker when they had another identical one that did as he was told.
So, Regulus knew why he had to go back. They were never really going to let him get away. Regulus knew he would end up starved and beaten in his room for the reminder of the week and maybe even longer. There were five days until the break was up. Five days. He had done so well. He was out, he was with his family far away from Walburga. Of course he had fucked it up. But now he had leverage, they needed him.
That house sucked the life out of him the moment he stepped through the door. The aurors had left him on the sidewalk unable to pass through the wards.
He made the first move, not allowing her to beat him to it.
"I made a mistake. I'm sorry very sorry maman please take me back."
"You are very bold to come back into my home." She said looking down at him. His mom wasn't necessarily tall, she would be his height normally. But, she always wore a pair of heels giving her and easy two or three inches on him.
" I grew so very regretful of my actions," he said bowing deeply at her feet." I am sorry for the shame I have brought to our name and I shall work my hardest to undo it." She rolled her eyes

"Get up." She said looking at him in disgust. He must have stayed down for a fraction too long because she was grabbing him digging into his shoulders.
"You've had you're little fun. It's time you've taken your place." Hse said pulling on the collar of his robes.
"Yes mother." She slapped him so quickly across the cheek he hadn't even seen it coming. And he didn't realize it had happened until he felt the blood pool in his mouth.
"Did I ask. You to address me?" She asked glaring threatening down at him. He shook his head this time. It was all coming back to him.
"Good," she nodded. "Good to see those filthy bloodtraitors haven't erased every shred of intelligence from you." He bit his own tounge finally understanding why Sirius had took a beating in defence of the Potters.
"Now we'll have to see about you getting in with the dark lord." She said turning to lead him through the house.
"I'm not doing that." Regulus said quickly taking a step back from her.
"I'm not taking that mark" and she was on him again. This time with magic rather than with her own two hands, he knew where the Mars would be, as he felt the splitting pain down his back.
"I'd be careful there." Regulus said. "you don't have anymore heirs to throw away." her mouth twitched. She wasn't just angry she was bloodthirsty.
"Now you littl-"
"Walburga." Orion cut in grabbing her hand as she was about to bring it down on him again.
"The boy is right." His father looked down on him. "He doesn't have to be marked. There are other ways he can prove useful." His mother breathed out a deep sigh.
"I suppose you are correct." She sad smoothing a hand down her skirt.

"I suppose other plans are in order." His father said clapping his hands together.
"Yes" his mother said agreeing. "Dinner Friday with the carrows?" She offered to her husband who nodded in affirmation."
"What do you mean?" Regulus asked confused.
"This doesn't concern you." His father told him sternly. Which he found completely ridiculous because whatever plan they were making was concerned entirely with him.
"I'll have you sent for for dinner." She said dismissing him upstairs with the wave of her hand.
She didn't. She never did when she said that, he'd be up in his room having food snuck to him by kreatcher in the mean time. The old grouchy houself had been grumbling to himself when Regulus summoned him, but nevertheless he helped him brining him the frozen bad for his cheek. And Regulus couldn't help but smile at the elf.
He sat down to write a letter. Je didn't really know why he was writing. Or if he would even send it. Regulus didnt even know who he was writting to. He knew his parents would end up reading it. But he didn't really care, they wouldn't do anything to him anyway.
James,
He began not really knowing where he was going. He crumpled up the parchment and threw it in the bin.
Dear James,
No, no that wast. Good enough either.
Dearest? My dearest?
My dearest.
My dearest, James.
Well as you now know I'll have survived my first evening in the hell house. Don't tell Sirius unless he's done being a prick (by my standards).
It was hard to find the words for James, he didn't know what to say, there was everything and nothing. And so he started with a little bit of everything
I'll be okay, really I will be they won't really hurt me. I promise. And well, I'm. Not like Sirius, I won't provoke them. It'd strange being here. I'll tell you that much. I've never experienced a dementor befit but I assume Walburga is close enough. I honestly couldn't tell you if someone were to ask me why I decided to write James Potter. I almost wrote Mary but they would have my skin if they knew I was associating with muggleborns.
There was a solid knock on his door. A beat later the door opened. He stumbled to hide the parchment. His mother stood in the doorway. She didn't look pleased at him. But then again she never really did.
"There shall be a dinner the Friday to discuss the prospect of your union with the young Carrow girl." She told him simply.
"There will be no running away this time, and you would be wise to agree and take your proper place as heir." That was all she told him before she left the room, door slamming behind her. He picked up the quill and continued to write.
And I suppose a summer wedding is now in order as well.
R. A. B.
He sent the letter with the family owl not bothering to try and sneak it.
Regulus dining sleep that night. Or the night after. Or any of the nights leading up to the dinner. He never recieved a reply for James. It really wasn't that serious he though to himself.

So, as a nonviolent summarry kf the tw section. they told Reggie he didn't have to take the dark mark but they hinted at his support of the dark lord regardless. He stood up to them realizing that they couldn't hurt him because he is their only heir now. Hope you all enjoyed the chapter, I have lots planned, live you all, stay safe
