Regulus had never particularly liked arithmancy. He hadn't hated the subject, but he certainly never thought he would be wishing for it. That is until he had to take the exam for history of magic.

He had decided to save time with subjects such as history of magic and divination by simply taking the exams. He knew he would pass, but what he didn't expect is how mind-numbingly boring the test would be.

The questions weren't hard. any wizard or witch could tell you when the goblin wars were. But the words seemed to drag on forever.

By the time the exam was over, he was nearly to the point of banging his head on the table as some form of entertainment.

"Where are you headed off to?" Evan asked, having taken the same exam as him

"Dorm,"he said, "changing out of this sweater." He explained with a gesture to his outfit of choice.

"Alright, well, I'll see you later." Evan said continuing in the direction of the hall.

The sweater had seemed like a good idea that morning in the cold of the dungeons. But the spring day had gotten progressively warmer, and the fabric was a bit much now. It was ideal, as it covered. The splintered black scar that was positioned on his forearm. But he had heard of a place called muggle hell, and. That day was hotter than it   he took the quick way hoping to catch the tail end of lunch. He hear footsteps trailing behind him. He froze in the dimly lit hall

"Do you really want to do this?" He asked the footsteps continued. He turned around to meet the tall form of Severus Snape.

"You do realize I am now the most rich and powerful wizard in all of Britain, right?" Regulus asked lightly taunting .

"Yes, and it's a shame that it's been wasted on you." Snape sad painfully slow. He produced a wand from his robes and attempted to threaten Regulus.

"I could end your world with the snap of my fingers." Snape continued his slow movement I to an offensive stance

"I'm feeling nice so I'll ask you one more time. Do you really want to do this?" Regulus asked the taller boy, rolling up the cuffs on his sweater.

"Black, don't y-"

"It's lord Black to you, you disgraceful halfblood." Now, Regulus didn't really believe in blood purity. But sanpe did, so throwing it in his face that he himself went against his own cause would hurt

"Listen, I just went through the most boring three hours of my life, and it'd be nice if you could do me a favor and fuck off." Regulus said patting the other boy in the shoulder.

Snape grabbed Regulus and pressed him into the wall, wand to his throat. Regulus couldn't help himself. He laughed in snapes face.

"You try so hard." Regulus said, casting a wordless body bind on Snape. The older year fell stiffly to the stone floor of the dungeon. Regulus backed away from his straightening his clothes.

"You cant do this to me. I-" Snape screamed after him

"Oh, shut up, would you." He said, crouching on the floor over him

"You can't do this to me ill -" he was cut off by Regulus's silencing charm

"But I already have." He said with a sad smile. And a pat to the boys' greasy hair. He grimaced for a second. Was his own that bad?

He continued to his dorm, ignoring the sound of the other boy rustling on the stone floor. He resolved to take the long way back up.

The common room was unsurprisingly empty during the lunch hour.He made his way to his dorm quickly. Regulus carefully took off the green jumper, leaving himself in a white button-up. He replaced
