Problematic kitten

Chapter 31

During next couple days Usagi marked what scars are from villain fights so they can tell them apart from abuse. She move hesitantly around the house to get to know every corner and nook in it, to know which floorings creek and which don't. Kuro soon settle down and walk around like she own the place. Aizawa has bought her several cat trees and cat beds around the house. Usagi actually find it little amusing, she didn't expect that from either of the heroes. What amuse her even more is that he couldn't cook. Yamada is the one who cook in the house. She like to listen their humorous arguments in kitchen and start to feel more relaxed after each passing day, even that they tell her stern no to get her vigilante suit and weapons back.

On the fifth day Usagi feel restless. She has been inside all time, resting like Yamada and Aizawa has demanded and now she want to go out. She sigh, jump from her bed and walk in wardrobe. She take out her dark green hoodie and black sweatpants, put them over her tank top and underwear and start to close the doors. She glance at her backpack and stop. She fight with herself for a moment until she dig out her new staff's prototype and spare claw gloves. She weight it in her hand, test that its basic attributes like splitting in batons, work properly and put it behind her back under waistband and head downstairs. Just in case. 

Usagi hesitantly walk to the heroes that watch TV in living room and clear her throat. They both turn to look at her. "C-Can I... go out?" She ask unsure of the reaction. Aizawa and Yamada share a look. "You wish to catch some fresh air?" Aizawa ask and she nod. "Of course you can, just be back before dinner." Yamada ask. She nod again and glance at clock, she has three hours. "See you soon." She say with a wave and rush to put her shoes on. "Wait!" She freeze hand on doorknob. "Take this with you, just in case." She turn to look at Aizawa and see that he reach a phone toward her. She hesitantly take it in her hand and put it in pocket. "Call Yamada if anything happens, okay?" "Okay, bye!" She say and slip out of the door.

Usagi run around the city for an hour, enjoying the new strength in her body after braiding her hair. She is well fed and rested, first time in several years. She want to laugh aloud but didn't let herself to do that. She decide to climb on roof and look how different city look in afternoon light. She move around for 10 more minutes until sudden pang and pained grunt catch her attention. Her instincts immediately kicking in, she rush toward there. She peek over the edge and gasp in shock. 

Ingenium is down and there is a figure towering over him. Usagi didn't even think twice, she press the claws out, pull her hood over head, take the staff out and jump in attack. She hit the attacker away from Ingenium with her staff, he grunt in surprise, and land between them. "Don't you dare come anywhere near him." She hiss. "Go away from here! He is Hero killer Stein. Run! He will kill you!" Ingenium command after he recovered from surprise. "Never." She growl and spin her staff. 

Stein stand up properly while evaluating Usagi and lick his lips. "I don't know who you are kid but if you leave now I won't kill you. You aren't my target." "In your dreams, scumbag." She hiss as answer. He grin and Ingenium continue to beg her to leave. "You are brave one I give you that." Stein say and suddenly throw a knife toward fallen hero.

Usagi hit the knife away with her staff and move to cover hero better. "Run, please. You are no match to him." Ingenium plead desperately. "Sorry, not in my nature to run away when someone need help." She say to the hero and give him quick smile. She hear how hero curse under his breath and jump in attack. Stein easily defend against her every attack and she quickly realize that she cannot win without ace in her sleeve. She twist staff in batons and manage to hit Stein in chin, making him stagger couple steps back. She didn't follow, instead she press buttons end of the staffs and start to count, as well as pray that she can hold her ground long enough, not to mention hit him.

Stein lick his bleeding lip and grin. "I have heard about that weapon. I just didn't recognize you without your costume. Kitten, I presume?" Ingenium gasp in shock. Usagi take of her hoodie, it is too big for longer battle anyway and smirk. "One and only." She answer. "You are one I won't want to kill so can you please step aside and let me do my job?" She raise and eyebrow with skeptical look. He chuckle. "I thought so, so I have to make you." He continue and jump in attack.

Usagi has to completely focus to defend and dodge Stein attacks. She didn't have time to even think of counter attack. She move her batons more with help of her instincts and reflexes than her eyes. He is way out of her league. Then he managed to slice her arm. She grunt and he smirk. He jump backwards and hold his sword in their view. "This was fun." She frown. "Don't let him taste your blood! You will be paralyzed!" Ingenium yell scared. 

"Fuck." Usagi curse when Stein lick his blade. She feel how her legs buckle under her for a second but nothing else. She frown confused. Men stare at her in shock too. She test all her limbs and turn to look at Stein. "Dud?" She ask and start to smirk, thanking whatever Gods that make it possible for her quirk to work against his. "That is impossible." Stein grunt and jump in new attack. 

Usagi start to counter attack, now that she know her quirk work against his, she didn't really care little slices and cuts he make on her. Her feet buckle everytime Stein taste her blood but nothing more. He start to grow frustrated and more angry by each passing second when she refuse to go down. Her blood spill all over the alley and Ingenium try desperately to move and come to her help. 

Stein start to become more sloppy with his defense and Usagi start to manage get hits in. She concentrate on his pressure points and managed to make him drop his swords. Loud clangs wash over the alley while Stein jump back, panting. She pant too and take a side step to stand between him and still paralyzed hero again. "Why help him? He just care bout the fame and money. I will clean this country of fake heroes!" He  growl to her. "That is where you are wrong." He squint his eyes. "Ingenium is one of the bests. Don't try to use some sick ideology as your justification of murders." She spat back. "Then you really are on my way." He grunt and rush in his fastest attack.

Usagi didn't have time to dodge or defend herself this time. Stein hit her right hand outwards so hard her baton fly from her hand while he pushed her left hand outwards and hit new sword through her stomach. "KITTEN?!" Ingenium yell desperate. She cough out blood. Stein didn't move and smirk. "Caught you." He sing sang. For his surprise she smirk too and raise her eyes to meet his. "Couldn't say better myself." She answer, dig her right hand's claws in his right forearm, nail him, flip the baton and hit the end that connect the batons together at his side as hard as she can muster. They both start to shake when electricity hit them.
