Chapter 7:

"She spends most of her time with Chifuyu Matsuno. She doesn't seem to have any other friends, even though she attends the all girl's school: x academy."

The information is tamed, stuff he'd already ascertained from their last meeting. He's growing irked that nothing of use has been revealed to him just yet. They must see it on his face, because they quickly move to continue with their report.

"Chifuyu Matsuno has feelings for her."

"Oh?"

That little tidbit of information is interesting to say the least. He'd moved on from one Baji to the next like he was playing hot potato. Baji Keisuke must be rolling in his grave.

"Both Mikey and Draken show her more favor than most. She's seemed to weasel her way into Toman's good graces. She's nothing special to write home about, but she's got the top brace as friends, so she must be doing something right."

Do middle schoolers start this early in discovering themselves? Has she been making her way through them to fill the hole her brother left? What a disgraceful way to live.

"She's not particularly close to any of the other division leaders. Her contact with Toman starts and ends with the three that were previously mentioned."

He knows that all too well. As the third division captain, he hadn't even known of her existence. The real question was whether she just never came up, or if Mikey was intentionally keeping her hidden from the rest of the captains. If it was the latter... he'd enjoy the look on Mikey's face when he realized just how powerless he could be.

Those girls at school hover around you, but never approach you again. You make it abundantly clear with the way you ignore their presence. The angry one gets quite heated every now and then, but the others keep her in check. They know nothing about your family or the Toman boys. They had no right to force their opinions onto you. They probably didn't even realize that being with the boys was the only time you had a sense of normalcy.

"Baji, since you're so focused, please come answer the question on the board."

Covering a tongue click, you push yourself out of your seat, brushing your skirt to make sure it falls over the leggings you're wearing underneath. You walk up to the board, looking at the math equation that sat on the board. Picking up the chalk, you go into autopilot, letting your academic side take over. You'd been reading about this very set of equations yesterday in Chifuyu's room. Yang had flopped onto the book, as done as you were with the math taking up your time. A small smile quirks your lips as you set the chalk down and turn back towards your seat.

"Hm, that's correct."

Your teacher sounds more annoyed by that outcome than he should be. He probably thought he had caught you zoning out. He had, in fact, you were zoning out about the girls that bothered you, but what he hadn't accounted for was Chifuyu's nagging keeping you up to date with your classes.

"Thanks." You state, taking your seat once again and letting the teacher keep going with the lesson.

'Teacher thought he caught me slipping.'

You send the text, keeping an eye out for your teacher's gaze, but he seems intent on avoiding you. Maybe he's seeking out an actual victim of ignoring the content. You're alright with that as well.
