Chapter 28:

It was a shattered scapula. Or shoulder blade for the none doctorate people out there. You were one of them. Course, you could have speculated it had something to do with your shoulder when the doctor was talking to you. Surgery was in place for the near future. For now, you were sitting up in the hospital bed, long after the nurses had passed all their regular tests on you. They all knew you on a first name basis. Though the informal speech made you feel more at ease, it was rather concerning that most of the nurses knew you by name at this point. Then again, the nurses should be the very least of your concerns right now. Emma was twitching incessantly at your bedside looking like a kicked puppy.

"I'm fine. I promise." You said for the zillionth time in less than an hour.

The girl was taking the news rough. Then again, she wasn't the only one. Mikey was brooding in the corner. He'd said maybe three words in the last two hours. While that was usually the norm with the shorter boy, you'd come to be able to pull full sentences out of him when you wanted. You couldn't even get him to talk about Keisuke. Actually, the mention of your twin brother had a dark expression taking over his features before he excused himself out of the room.

"Emma." You sighed as she continued in her nervous menstruations.

The blond looks up, tears shining in her honey eyes. She hasn't stopped crying since you opened your eyes. You let out a gentle sigh. You've noticed that Emma only has a couple of scrapes to her. It's a relief that Kisaki didn't get to her. Thank god, the shockwaves of pain going through your shoulder are actually worth something. The sling the doctors had given you was doing little to placate the pain, but you smiled nonetheless as fresh tears fell on Emma's cheeks.

"Please stop crying. I didn't save you to see you cry." You murmured, smile growing as she wipes at her tears angrily.

"I can't believe you did that! What would have happened if Kisaki killed you?" She demands, fire igniting in those honey eyes.

"And if Kisaki killed you?" You asked, cocking you head.

Emma blinks at you, mouth open in a silent refute. She's got nothing to answer to that claim. You chuckle at the annoyance that flashes in her expression.

"I'm really glad you're safe, Emma."

"I'll say."

The two of you startle as Draken lets himself into your room. Emma turns away from the door, embarrassed about the state of her runny makeup and puffy eyes. You let out an exasperated sigh as Draken cocks his head in questioning.

"Hey." You say as he takes to leaning on the wall beside the door. "How is everyone?"

Draken raises a brow at you before huffing out a small bark of laughter.

"You're laying in a hospital bed and you're worried about the others?" He states, rolling his eyes.

"Have you seen Chifuyu?" You ask, fingers twitching slightly. "I would text him, but I crushed my phone in the fall." You mumbled, feeling quite dejected.

Draken looks uncomfortable as he tries to piece together a sentence for you. It's strange seeing the usually carefree, older boy looking so put out. Especially if it doesn't involve Mikey's antics. Draken rubs at the back of his head, clicking his tongue.

"He got into it with Mikey before storming out."

You raise a brow, cocking your head to the side. This was Chifuyu you were asking about. Chifuyu, the boy who was alright with following after Takemichi as a captain. Chifuyu who was liable to keep silent unless his opinion was expressly asked for.
