On a cold saturday with your bags packed, you opened your front door, ready to head to the train station.
"Bye [parent 1], bye [parent 2]!"
They followed you to the door,
"Stay safe, love you!"
"I will, love you!"
You exchanged a quick hug before they closed the door, fearing that they'd end up making you late to the train.
You walked to the gate of your house to be surprised by one of your upperclassman.
"Hey (l/n)! I was passing by when I heard you were going to another school for a bit?"
You nodded, walking up to face him.
"Yup! Itachiyama in Tokyo,"
"Tokyo again? At this point you might as well move there!"
You chuckled, walking down the street with him.
"Yeah, I know right? Funnily enough though, I used to live there!"
He turned his head toward you, intrigued,
"Really?"
"Yeah, until I was 6-ish I think. Then I moved here,"
You both stopped in front of his house, facing each other.
"Well I'm glad you moved here, (l/n). And I'm glad I get to be your friend,"
You couldn't help but feel a little touched by his words, slight pink forming on your cheeks as you cracked a smile.
"Thanks, senpai. I'm glad I get to be your friend too!"
His heart skipped a beat at your words, and you exchanged a small goodbye before turning to continue your walk. But before you could make it too far, you found that Sugawara had ran after you.
"(L/n), wait!"
You tilted your head,
"What is it?"
He opened his arms, looking to the side shyly, a light blush on his face.
"I-I wanted to give you a goodbye hug...?"
You laughed a breathy laugh, setting your bags on the ground before giving him a tight hug.
• funky abrupt transition
You weren't really expecting to be back to Tokyo so soon, and made a mental note to visit your friends if possible, though there was a good chance you wouldn't have an opportunity to.
You looked at the address of where you were staying,
'Komori Motoya... why is that name so familiar?'
You decided to pay it no mind, and continued on your trek through the city. Eventually you made it to his house, and were hit by even more nostalgia as you stepped to the door, still confused as to why.
A cute boy with brown hair answered the door,
"You're (l/n) (f/n), right? Not a murderer?"
You laughed nervously,
"That's me, and I'd hope not!"
You exchanged smiles as he welcomed you in his house.
"My parents are both out on a late night shopping run, our rice cooker just broke and there's a sale on them that ends today,"
"It's good that they're saving money,"
You followed him into a room with two beds set up.
"You can use the bed on the left, make yourself at home!"
You set your bags down and pulled out a pillow you brought from home, placing it on the on that was already present.
You stretched for a little bit before turning back to Komori, who was patiently watching you, figuring that you'd probably need his assistance.
"So Komori, tell me a little about yourself,"
You sat on your bed, and he sat on his, the both of you facing each other.
His head tilted slightly as he started listing things off about him,
"I'm on the volleyball team, I like dogs but my parents won't get me one, and I'm and second year,"
You were about to comment, but he interrupted when he remembered another of his accomplishments,
"Oh, and I was rated as the #1 libero for high schoolers!"
You gave him a small round of applause,
"That's super cool! I think I've seen your picture in one of those volleyball magazines before, you looked totally cool!"
He blushed slightly at the praise,
"Heh, you really think so?"
"Yeah! The angling of the camera was just perfect for the dynamic shots, and I think they used a filter for the photo, but it was pretty subtle, it really added to the vibe though!"
You watched him deflate slightly as your praise shifted from him to the camera work, and you quickly corrected yourself.
"And you just looked super cool hitting that volleyball, and your uniform's colors look good on you too!"
Once again he was a beaming mess, with you giving him too many compliments in too short of a time.
"Well you'll get to see it in person tomorrow! Keep your eyes peeled for it!"
You gave him a genuine smile,
"It'll definitely be a blessing for my eyes, that's for sure,"
An unfamiliar heat rise within Komori, and he couldn't help but chastise himself for it. He just met you, and he's already feeling these kind of things for you? But there was just something else about you, something he just couldn't quite put his finger on... You gave off a comforting feeling, a feeling that brought him back to a time long ago.
He chalked it up to just feeling weird in the late night.
You stood up from the bed, grabbing some clothes from your bag.
"I'm gonna go change. Where's your bathroom?"
He pointed to the door,
"First door to the left,"
You nodded and headed there with your clothes.
Komori couldn't get rid of the smile on his face,
'He said I looked cool! He complimented me!'
•
You walked back into the bedroom now clad in your sleepwear, laying down on the bed and tucking yourself underneath the covers.
"Ah, I forgot to ask, have you eaten yet?"
But he only ended up getting a snore as a response.
He chuckled to himself, getting in his bed as well.
"Goodnight,"
