"And the winner is... third year, Sugawara Koushi! Sugawara, please come to the front office to claim your prize!"
To be quite honest, he was quite shocked, and remained shocked until he came face to face with you at the front office.
"You know, I wasn't really expecting this of you, senpai,"
He nervously tried to defend himself,
"I was just trying to support your club! I didn't-"
He was cut off by your laugh,
"Relax, I wasn't judging you!"
He clicked his tongue in annoyance, lightly jabbing you in the stomach with his elbow,
"Jeez, you really made me worry for a second!"
Still recovering from the blow to your stomach, you followed him out of the office, following him to the gym.
"You still have volleyball practice?"
"Of course we do, we wouldn't stop just for something like Valentine's Day!"
But just as the two of you entered the gym, you were stopped by Daichi an Asahi.
"And where do you two think you're going?"
Sugawara tried to push his way into the gym, but the other two walked him off.
"Let me in!"
"Nuh-uh, you've won your date with (l/n), you shouldn't spend your time with him practicing,"
Nishinoya and Tanaka chimed in,
"That's so un-gentlemanlike of you!"
"You tell him, Ryu!"
Sugawara sent death glares to his two underclassman, but couldn't argue with their reasoning, letting out a defeated sigh as he turned to you.
"There's a cafe on the way to my house, wanna go there?"
You gave him a bright smile that made him want to thank his friends,
"Sure!"

The cafe 'date' seemed to be going well, although Sugawara was a tad annoyed at how you were focusing more on your drink than him, taking more photos than he'd like.
With a passive aggressive grin, he chided you,
"You know maybe instead of ogling at your drink, you could ogle at something more... alive?"
He was surprised at how flirty it came out, but it was too late to take what he said back, as both of you locked eyes with a blush. You could see slight regret in his eyes, so you decided to play what he said off like a joke.
"You're right! Why look at this drink when I have the esteemed vice-captain of the Karasuno volleyball team in front of me!"
He decided to play along,
"Oh how you flatter me, (l/n). Do make sure to compliment me some more,"
"What should I compliment next? Your capabilities as an upperclassman? Or that cute mole near your eye?"
He blinked, his face turning red.
"Y-you think I'm cute?"
Well technically you said his mole was cute, not him, but his question gaslit you into thinking otherwise.
"I- uh..."
He seemed to deflate a little bit at how you were backing down, so you ended up just going for it.
"Yes! I do think you're cute! And I'm not ashamed to say it! And I also think we should change the subject!"
He blushed even harder,
"Agreed,"

After a quick chat over some hot drinks, you decided to walk your upperclassman home, like a real gentleman.
He tilted his head as you both walked,
"You know, we haven't really done anything too valentines-dayish,"
You were able to piece together what he was saying, wordlessly grabbing onto his hand as you walked. Neither of you couldn't bring yourselves to look at each other, both of you blushing too hard.
You dropped him off at his house, an awkward tension between you two. He tried to joke,
"Aww (l/n), are you really gonna leave me without my valentines kiss?"
His faux smugness disappeared as he felt a pair of lips hit his forehead, quickly disappearing.
"I- I hope you're satisfied with that, senpai! I gotta go now!"
You ran away.
He closed the door, resting his back against it as he sat down on the floor, blushing, his hands hovering over where you kissed him.
'He thinks I'm cute!'
