Chapter 1

A New Life

Sylvia later learns the three people on the couch was Ellie, Dina, and Jesse. The four have them have gotten quite close as Dina, Ellie and Sylvia usually spend the most time with each other and was the group that helped Sylvia through her first patrol after getting comfy in the house of her savior Tommy.

Three years have passed, and today Sylvia fortunately had to do a patrol with Jesse. After getting up early Sylvia leaves to go to the stables where she prepares her horse for the route. Jesse had warned her that there have been sightings of infected in that area and to clear the way. It always made her nervous to find those fuckers.

Finishing up clipping her backpack, she turned around the meet two familiar faces. Tommy and his wife Maria. They were so kindly to take her in and teach her all the things she needs to survive.

"Hey, Maria... Tommy. What's up?"

"Oh, nothin much hun, I just wanted to give you a snack." Maria smiled while handing over a tightly wrapped sandwich.

"Thanks" Sylvia chuckles. "How'd you know I was getting hungry?" she smirks turning around to stuff it in the back pocket of the bag.

"I also wanted to tell you something..." Sylvia kept her eyes sharp.

"Well spill it already." Her voice sounding concerned.

"I want you to find some stuff for the celebration tomorrow out there."

"Jesus Maria, why'd you make it sound so bad." Sylvia sighed heavily putting her hand to her chest exaggerating her relief. "Yea, of course I'll try. No guarantee we'd find something." She smiles at her which earns a thanks and two taps on the back for luck.

As Maria leaves, Jesse replaces her and puts a hand over her shoulder.

"Hey Sylvie" his hand leaving her shoulder, to move and lean on the side of her horse as she tighten the saddle.

"What's up? How's Dina?" Sylvia says out of habit, quickly remembering the breakup. "Ahh shit sorry, umm, how have you been?" she turns her attention to him.

"Eh, could be better." Shrugging his shoulder and switching the subject on asking what Maria had wanted. After telling him and having to hear him whine about it he looked at her opening his mouth.

"Hey, why don't you and I go ou- FUCK!" before ending his sentence, the brown horse he had been leaning against lifted up its leg and gave him a nice kick in the shin, being annoyed with the poking elbow in its rib. Sylvia couldn't help but laugh, turning around so Jesse wouldn't take offense to the laugh. Sylvia caught glimpse of a red head walking into the stable looking a little concerned at what was happening in front of her. But all it did was cause Sylvia to laugh more and fall to her knees.

A moment has passed, and Sylvia was on one knee and looking at the nice bruise forming on Jesse's leg.

"Yup, that'll last a while. Good thing my horse didn't break your leg."

"It sure as hell feels like its broken." He states through gritted teeth.

"You're fine get up. We're about to leave anyway."
