How Long Have You Known?

"I shouldn't have left them alone. Poor Abby... has to deal with his insanity." Sylvia talks to herself as she makes her way to the room Abby said they'd sleep in.

Walking in she found Mel on the floor folding some clothes she seemed to have retrieved before the rainstorm hit. "Hey! What's up?" Sylvia asks, trying to calm her anger.

"Nothing much." Mel responded a little on edge, not looking to the woman in the doorway.

"I hope I didn't give the wrong impression." Sylvia noticed Mel's uncertainty.

"What's your deal with Owen? You just kinda show up and he wants you moving across the country with HIS family. It's just weird." Mel looks up to Sylvia, then turning away continuing with the laundry.

"If it makes you feel better I'm not going with you guys."

"You're not?" Mel looks back to Sylvia surprised.

"Of course not. I have found my people here; I can't leave them. And I won't leave them for people I technically just met. They all changed so much, they aren't the same little innocent Abby and Owen I grew up with." Mel just nods in understanding.

Sylvia walks over to the bunk beds and lays down on the bottom bed, she lays on her back and pulls out a hockey card. Flipping it in her hands she smiles at the kind thought of Ellie giving it to her after finding it in one of her patrols.

Mel seemed to been have watching her and asks, "Where'd you get that?"

"Oh! Ellie got it for me... The girl I like."

"Oh, that's sweet. Where is she now?" Mel tries to make small talk.

Sylvia smiles, "Probably trying to look for me somewhere... I left kind of out of nowhere."
Mel nods, the two of them heard footsteps coming up to the room and Abby and Owen showed themselves into the room.

Sylvia looked at the two of them but noticed something odd about Abby. Her eyes were bouncing around the room and her hair seemed to be stuck to her forehead by sweat. Sylvia raised one eyebrow in questioning and stared at Abby who still stood in the doorway. Owen walked over to Mel and struck up a conversation with her.

Sylvia stood up and walked over to Abby, "Abby? Can I talk to you for a minute?" she didn't wait for an answer as she gripped onto Abby right arm and pulled her into another room across the hall.
Abby awkwardly stood in the room. Sylvia slowly walked up to Abby, raising her hands she grips both of her shoulders and gently pushes Abby to sit down in a chair at a table.

"Now tell me, what's going on with you? Was it something I said back in the boat?"

"What? No, I'm fine Sylvia. I'm okay." Abby tried to tell her but she didn't take that as an answer.

"You're not though... You still do the thing when you're upset or uncomfortable." Sylvia points to Abby's shaking hands that were together picking at her skin and her finger nails.

Abby frantically stopped picking her skin and roughly rubbed her hands over her thighs while taking a deep breath trying to calm down.

Sylvia's face focused, her eyes grew serious and looked into Abby's eyes, "What happened when I left."

She thinks back to earlier that day when Abby seemed so happy and alright.

Abby takes a deep breath as her eyes brim with tears but Abby never lets them fall. Sylvia was shocked and she scooted her chair closer to Abby and rests a hand on her thigh, but she flinches at the move. Sylvia quickly pulls her hand back and looks at Abby confused.

"I... Me and... Owen are..." Sylvia leans in, in curiosity.

"We've been... active..."

"Abby" Sylvia says noticing her hesitation.

"Did you want this to happen?"

Abby looked up shocked, waiting for Sylvia to yell at her or telling her how bad of a person she is. Sylvia looks at Abby, waiting for an answer.

"At first yea, I missed him a lot and it just sorta happened... But when I found out Mel was pregnant I backed off, I told him I didn't want it to continue but he insisted..."

Sylvia's rage grew and grew after hearing what Owen was doing to Abby, of course Abby wasn't totally innocent at the beginning but it should've never ended like it had.

"How are you feeling?"

"I'm pregnant." Abby's head hangs low.

Sylvia's face turned into one of shock. "Oh god... How long have you known?"

Abby looks up at Sylvia, "About three weeks."

Sylvia sits back into her chair and takes a break breath, pausing and then letting the air escape her lungs. Her mind racing, "This is Dina all over again, what are we gonna do?" she thinks to herself.

Abby and Sylvia stand up, Abby looks nervous to go back out there and Sylvia notices walking up to her and engulfing her in a big hug. Abby gladly returning it.

"We're leaving right now." Abby breaks off the hug and looks at Sylvia with wide eyes.

"What?"

"We're leaving, you go meet me downstairs at the exits. I'll go get our bags." Sylvia straightens out and Abby nodding to her suggestion.

Sylvia softened face changed, turning angry. Her eyebrows hung over her eyelids making her look intimidating. Sylvia turns and leaves the room and only taking a couple steps until making it into the other room with Owen and Mel inside. Walking into the room, Sylvia's face must have said it all as Owen's face contorted in confusion.

"Me and Abby are leaving for main base." Sylvia says monotone.

Owen's and Mel's face turned into one's of shock, "Woah! What?! You can't leave! You told me you wanted to stay for a few days." He says and grabs a hold of Sylvia forearm before she could grab Abby's bag against the wall.

"Let. Go. Of. Me." Sylvia told him, he loosened his grip on her arm.

Sylvia shakes herself out of his grip and stands up straight, getting right in his face, "And that was before what I heard you've been doing to Abby!" now yelling at the man.

"YOU GOT HER PREGNANT YOU SICK FUCK!"

Now Owen backed up, his eyes wide and mouth agape. Mel, who was just listening , now got up and got infront of Owen. It was her turn to get into his face and start calling him foul names.
Sylvia took this as her chance to leave, picking up both hers and Abby's bag she rushes out of the room and making her way down the various hallways and down the stairs to meet Abby who was leaning against the exit door. Upon seeing Sylvia, Abby pushes herself off of the wall and notices her expression.

"What happened up there?"

Sylvia stops her movements and hands Abby her bag, taking a long and deep breath, "I told him, and Mel. Right now, she's tearing him a new one." Sylvia gives Abby a small smile, which she returns nodding her head in understanding.

"Let's go." Sylvia puts her backpack on and makes sure the both of them are all set to leave before opening the exit slowly, popping her head out to check for any enemies.

Finding none, she opens the door wider and Abby takes the lead, trying to find their way back to the Stadium. Pulling her gun out she ready's herself for anything.

-

Sylvia was trekking from behind Abby in her own little world.

It was silent for a while and Abby, in front asked,

"Hey, How's it going back there?"

She was only met with silence.

"Sylvia?" Abby turns around not seeing anyone behind her. Abby's eyes grow wide. "We've been ambushed." She think to herself.

Rustling came from behind her, cutting her thoughts off from continuing. Fully turning back around she's faced with a Scar. Too late to react, the Scar hit Abby's head with their elbow rendering her unconscious.
