Unrequited Love

I arrive home and forcibly push open the door.  I storm through the house, and try to head upstairs, but someone grabs my arm and stops me.

"Okay, what's wrong now?" Briaunna asks me with an upset face.

"Adam still hasn't returned?"

"Well it's usual that he disappears all the time... but aren't you going to answer my question?"

"No."

I turn around and try to run upstairs, but she grabs my arm even tighter and pulls me down off of the stairs.

"Okay, I've had enough of this disrespect.  You don't talk to me like that, regardless of how mad you are, you hear me?" Briaunna says in an upset tone.

"Yeah..." I reply lowly.

"I didn't hear you!" 

"Okay!" I shout.

There is a short moment of silence, then Briaunna lets go of my arm.  "Now please Kiruh... tell your mother what is troubling her son?"

I let out a sigh and rest my shoulders.  "Well there was this girl I liked... I was going to admit my feelings for her today, but it turns out she is going on a date with my partner."

"Oh..." Briaunna says with disappointment.  She chuckles a little bit.

"You think this is funny mom?" I ask.

"Of course not... it just reminds me a lot of when I was younger, between your father and Johnny..."

"Johnny?  You mean Adam's father?"

"Oh... yeah... that was his name.  You see, Johnny had a big crush on me, but I didn't exactly know it at the moment.  Then he saw your father and I together, and it crushed him badly."

"How do you find out he had a crush on you?"

"One day during some big battle, we all thought we were done for.  I was held captive under some other man's orders, and they ordered that Johnny and your father be killed at once.  That's when Johnny admitted his feelings for me, right in the middle of battle."

"Well, seeing as you and Johnny never got married, what was his last name?"

"Gehta."

"Gehta?  That means Adam's last name is Gehta as well?"

"Yeah... it is."

"Good to know."  I turn around and start to head upstairs.  "Thanks for telling me this, mother" I say with my back turned.  I notice Brima looking at me right before I head upstairs.  I enter my room, sit down on my bed and start to browse through my holo-watch, searching for the last name Gehta.  I see a small article based on the Gehta family chain line, and start to read.

The article ends abruptly, with no information whereas to why it did.  There isn't even a release date.

"How is this even possible?  If the article isn't finished... why is it even published?" I think.  I continue to browse through my holo-watch for several hours, until it reaches late night.  I decide to call it quits and get to bed.

Something wakes me up in my sleep.  I quickly rise up to see what it is.  I see a figure across from my bed, but I can't make out who it is. 

"Adam!?" I say somewhat loudly.  I quickly press the holographic button to turn on the lights.  It turns out the person was Brima. 

"H-huh?  Brima?  This is... surprising? What are you doing here?" I ask as I check my holo-watch.  It's 3 AM in the morning.  I look back at Brima with a tired face.

"Kiruh... who was the girl you said you liked?" Brima asks quietly.

"Well... I guess you'd be a bit surprised.  It's Rina..." 

Brima bites her bottom lip, but continues to say "And she's dating Suiyomi?" 

"Yeah... she is, unfortunately" I say while rubbing my chin.

Brima clenches her fist and looks at me with confidence in her face.

"Kiruh.  I think I love you" She says boldly, with no hesitation whatsoever.

I feel my heart skip a beat and I stare at her with wide eyes for a few seconds, completely speechless.

"I realized that I need to step up.  I've had this feeling since that night at the Beach house.  You saying your feelings about Rina... made me realize... I could lose that chance any moment... so please... say something before my heart explodes..."

"I... what can I say?  The princess that has been living with me for a while suddenly comes in my room and tells me she loves me... in the middle of the night?  I... don't know what I can say..."

Brima frowns slightly.  "I understand... it is strange I guess..."

"No, it isn't strange at all.  I'm actually kinda glad... you did something I couldn't do.  You actually managed to tell me..." I smile, and look downwards.  "I... need some time to think about this.  I just had my heart broken... just give me some time, okay?"

Brima smiles happily.  "I'm glad you accepted me...  I'll give you all the time you need."

I smile back at her.  "Now you should get some rest, I want to go train with Genji tomorrow, if you don't mind coming with?" 

Brima nods and turns around.  As she is walking out of the room she says "Of course I don't mind... remember what I just said..."

She closes the door behind her and the room instantly gets dark.  I stay up for a while thinking about what just happened.  I then close my eyes, think to myself "That made my day a little better..", and then drift off into sleep.
