"How come we're going for a picnic all of a sudden?" Zoya asked while looking out of the car window.

Shahveer, who was driving, shrugged. "I just thought it'd be fun. And Sehrish loves the outdoors."

"Yess!" On cue, the little girl shouted from the backseat.

The venue for the picnic was Purana Qila. Upon reaching there, he brought out the picnic basket he had packed from the trunk along with the large picnic blanket.

They went inside and wandered around a little to find a perfect spot for themselves. Zoya helped him to lay the blanket before they all took off their shoes and sat comfortably.

"I don't remember the last time I went on a picnic." Zoya said as she laid down under the sky. The soft sunlight hitting her face felt like bliss.

He brought out the chicken and cheese sandwich he had packed for brunch along with fruits and a side salad. There was also cheesecake in glass jars that he had made.

Sehrish wanted to play with the ball, so he went with her. Zoya pulled out her phone to capture them both having the best time of their lives. A while later, she joined them as well. They must have spent an hour running around the grass playing what they called was football.

After getting tired, they came back to their blanket and rested for a while. Then ludo was brought out and that continued till Sehrish was bored. They also munched on some snacks while playing.

Finally, it was about an hour before sunset when Shahveer suggested that they should leave. They packed up all their stuff and started walking out of the fortress ground. But instead of going towards the parking lot, he pivoted towards where the lake of the fort was.

"Where are we going?" Zoya asked.

"To the lake." He told her.

"But I don't think they allow visitors on the lake anymore." The lake was once a very famous tourist destination, but it had been closed for a few years now for restoration.

He didn't reply, just kept walking.

On reaching the gate that was the entrance to the lake area, he spoke to the watchman. The watchman nodded his head and opened the gate for them.

"Come on," He said to his girls and kept the basket he was carrying with the watchman.

"What's going on, Veer?" Zoya asked again as he took her hands in his and kept walking straight.

They reached the deck of the lake where Zoya saw a wooden paddle boat, decorated with flowers, was waiting along with a boater.

One more man was standing on the deck.
