I walked through the door with you,
The air was cold,
But something about it felt like home somehow.

*************

Zoya applied some pink tint on her lips before rummaging through her handbag. Pulling out a black hair tie, she looked at Shahveer, "I should tie my hair."

He took the hair tie from her hand. "No, you look beautiful." Then he subconsciously wore the tie around his left wrist.

"Yes, mama beautiful." Sehrish repeated.

He nuzzled his nose on her chubby cheeks cutely, and Zoya smiled at them. Right now, they were on their way to Shahveer's parents home. On her birthday, he had told her that his family wanted to meet her and Sehrish. It took Zoya off guard and so she took a couple of days to give him an answer. She said yes because no matter how nervous it made her, she had to do it someday. So they flew to Bhopal on Thursday, a day before his Amma's birthday and would be returning back on Saturday.

The car that had come to pick them up from the airport finally reached the huge metal gates. The car driver honked and the watchman came out. He saw Shahveer and smiled before opening the gates for the car to enter. Then started what must be the most luxurious driveway Zoya had ever seen. The grounds on both sides were filled with luscious green grasses and trees. The driveway followed till they reached a fountain that was right in the middle. And in front of that was a gigantic white mansion.

"Are you some sort of prince?" Zoya spoke out, staring at the white beauty, which looked ethereal against the blue sky.

Shahveer chuckled. "No, but I may belong to the royal family of Bhopal."

Zoya gaped at him. "So you are a prince. Or a nawab? How could you not tell me this before?"

He rolled his eyes. "I am neither of them. My forefathers used to rule Bhopal, but after independence, the rule ended slowly and the title was also taken away. Now we're just normal people, with some royal property on our name."

"And that's supposed to make me feel better?" She whisper-screamed.

"Yeah," He shrugged and got out of the car. The driver helped him to get the luggage out of the trunk. Just then, two servants came out of the mansion to greet Shahveer and took all the bags with them.

Shahveer then circled to open the door for Zoya. She nervously stepped out, placing her handbag on her shoulder. Then he helped Sehrish out of the car.

"Wow," Sehrish gasped. "This huge.."

"Yes, and you can play here." He replied to her before looking at Zoya. "Ready?"

She nervously shook her head.

"I will stay right by your side, always." He held her hand and the three of them moved forward. There were a couple of stairs before an extravagant gate opened up into a corridor that had intricate designs made on the walls. They turned a left to enter the living room which left Zoya flabbergasted. It was so big, so beautiful and so royal. The glass chandelier hanging from the top, the classy furniture and the antique pieces on display around the room.
