And when I felt like I was an old cardigan, under someone's bed,
You put me on and said
I was your favorite.

**********

On the sixteenth morning of the month of December, the Sun rose and brought along with it a new beginning for Zoya and Shahveer. And for Sehrish as well.

There was not a single corner in the grounds of the Khan Mansion of Bhopal that wasn't decked up. The helpers and servants had been up since the dawn break to start preparing for the special day.

The guests had arrived by noon, and the qazi came fifteen minutes later. At twelve forty-five, Shahveer was standing on the small dais, beside the qazi. For the wedding outfit, he had kept it simple with a plain white kurta pajama with a full jacket that had golden thread work on it.

All the guests were sitting in front of him, on the chairs that were placed in proper order. Both their families were sitting in the front row, all of their faces sporting huge smiles.

Finally the wait ended. His girls came out, looking absolutely breathtaking. Zoya, wearing a mustard and maroon lehenga, was walking down the aisle with Sehrish. His baby girl was wearing a black suit with golden thread work and laces to match his sherwani, and her dupatta was in mustard color to twin with her mother.

Seeing them both walk towards him filled his heart and his eyes. A single tear dropped from his eye which he immediately wiped away.

When they reached his hand's distance, he came forward and helped them up the dais.

"Should we start?" The qazi asked.

He nodded, without taking his eyes off Zoya, who was a blushing mess by now.

Ten minutes later, they were saying qubool hai, accepting each other as partners for life, in sickness and in health, till death do them part.

As soon as the qazi announced them husband and wife, he picked her up in his arms and twirled her around. She giggled and held onto him for her dear life.

"Papa," Sehrish broke their moment and pouted sadly, not happy by the way they were ignoring her.

"Yes, my princess. We love you too." He bent down to pick her up in his arms. The three of them hugged, and the moment was captured forever.

The family members came forward first to congratulate the couple. Zaina, along with her husband, had also come.

Lunch was soon served and everybody got busy eating.

"That was so dreamy." Aarti commented. Zoya along with her sisters and Aarti were standing in one corner and eating chaat. The bride had not eaten anything in nervousness and was starving now.

"I know right," Ziva piped in. "And when jiju picked you up. I swear to God he is setting the standards too high for me."

Zoya chuckled and continued to devour her meal.

"Excuse me, ladies," Saahir joined them, "but can I steal my bhabhi for sometime?"

"No," Ziva replied.

This made him frown. "Sorry?"

"Can't you see she's eating? And she's spending time with us right now. Come back later." She gestured to him to leave.

He shook his head. "Your attitude really makes me wonder if you're even Bhabhi's real sister. Did you guys adopt her or something?" He asked the question to Zoya.

"Hello, mister," Ziva snapped, "Just because you're nawab doesn't mean you're allowed to say anything. Now zip up your mouth and leave as fast as you can."

"Be grateful you're bhabhi's sister, or else.." He gritted his teeth.

"Or else what?" She challenged him.

They kept glaring at each other before Zoya decided to intervene. "Okay, calm down guys. I don’t want any bloodshed on my wedding day."

Ziva huffed loudly before walking off from there. He left as well, in the exact opposite direction to hers.

The three people left on the table looked at each other before cracking up.

"I don't understand why they hate each other so much." Zaina said. Ziva and Saahir had just met three days ago and had been arguing back and forth since then.

"I don't think it is hate." Aarti smirked, "I think they're extremely attracted to each other and don't know how to handle it."

"What?" Zoya was shocked.

"There is obviously a lot of chemistry and sexual tension there. How can you not notice?"

"I don't.."

"But then again, you couldn't even figure out that Kian loved you." Aarti cut her, "you're really delusional in matters of love."

Kian, Zoya remembered him. It had been several months since he had left. And she had been in absolutely no contact with him. Until today.

She woke up to find his text this morning. It was short. In fact it was just one single word. Congratulations.

She had replied back with a thank you which he saw and liked.

It was not much, but it was something. And that was enough for Zoya for now.

"Mrs Khan," A voice said that made Zoya turn her head with a smile. Her handsome husband came close to kiss her nose.

"I like the sound of it." She told him shyly.

"Then you'd be hearing it more." He promised.

They mingled around the crowd for a while before people started leaving. Then both the families sat down to eat together, which was a hearty affair, minus the bickering between Saahir and Ziva.

Sehrish went off with Ziva as the new couple were sent to Shahveer's room. He changed his clothes pretty soon but it took her some time to take off her jewelry and makeup. Since she had kept her hair open, she didn’t have those million pins to take out.

She moaned in bliss when her body hit the soft mattress.

"I can give you a better reason to moan." He flirted, which earned him a slap on his shoulder.

"Go to bed, I'm really tired." She murmured.

"I can't believe you're asking me to sleep on our wedding night." He gasped.

"It is not night yet." She pointed out. It was just five in the evening. "Sleep for a while so that we can stay up the entire night."

He grinned at his wife, who was half asleep by now. All the nervousness, gitters and stress had exhausted her. He pulled her closer to himself and closed his eyes as well.

They woke up at 10, had dinner, and then stayed up the entire night making love.

The next day was spent with the entire family.

The day after that, Zoya's family left for Jaipur. Aarti and Rohit's family along with Malti came back to Delhi.

And Zoya, Shahveer and Sehrish left for their honeymoon.
