The sound of an alarm clock rang from the left side of the bed. It sat on a small desk. The small desk was next to the nearest electrical outlet and the bed. The outlet was close to a corner of the bedroom. It faced one side of the desk. The other edge of the corner was facing the side of a dresser. There were three rows of drawers. The boy groaned as he slowly sat up on the bed. He looked at the alarm clock and turned off the alarm. His name is Owen. He is 12 years old. He has very dark skin. Owen has short hair that can be very curly when it is long. He always like to have hair cut short. Owen doesn't like to get up early in the morning and go to school. He has many friends at school. That's one part of school he loves. He's made friends with everybody in his classroom. They all like to play sports in gym class. As a matter of fact, that is his favorite subject. He always like to play some kind of sport with his friends during recess. Owen has played soccer, basketball, volleyball, and even floor hockey.
"Owen, breakfast is served." A voice shouted from the dining room. It was his sister, Francine. She is only four years older than him. She had long curly hair. It went down covering her shoulders. Owen got his slippers on. He leaves them half under his bed, the front end of each slipper sticks out. Owen got himself standing and went to open the door. He wandered into the hallway. He could smell flapjacks being made for breakfast. Owen sat down at his spot at the dinner table. His father and mother were there to greet him. "Morning Owen. Come and have a seat." He spoke. Owen's father is always cheerful whenever he is up early. Owen's mother was half happy and half disappointed when she was awake. She is only happy to be wake up at eight O' clock during the weekend. Owen's mother always loves to stay up late so she could watch a movie with the father. She feels very tired when she wakes up early in the morning. It makes him happy whenever he says good morning or hello to Francine, Owen, or Carter. Carter is two years younger than Owen. He has curly hair. He even likes to have his hair curly. He can be a nuisance at times. One time, he left an empty container of toothpaste next to the bathroom counter. Owen was not happy, he had to use the remaining toothpaste from the tube onto his toothbrush. He even dressed up as a werewolf on time to scare Owen while it was midnight. Owen remembered how he hid under the blanket. The parents forbid Carter from watching TV for one week. Carter slowly shuffled his feet over to the dining room. He was a little bit drowsy from waking up early in the morning. He sat down at his usual spot at the dining room table. Francine put three flapjacks each on the plates, along with some breakfast sausages and turkey bacon. Breakfast potatoes were also added as a side. Once all of the food has been plated, Francine went to take two full plates at a time to the dinner table. The parents got their plates first. Carter and Owen were next to be served. Francine sat down at her spot at the dining room table. She also had brought ketchup from the fridge. "Could we put some ketchup on our flapjacks?" Carter asked his parents. The father was nearly shocked. He instantly shook his head in disappointment. "The ketchup is for the breakfast potatoes silly." Francine asserted as she put some on her breakfast potatoes.
"Where's the butter and syrup? That always go well with flapjacks." The father queried. "I hope you're not doing this while you're working honey." The mother contended as Francine stood up to get the butter and the syrup. Francine has a part time job at a restaurant. This restaurant is family restaurant that serves breakfast themed food. The name of the restaurant is call "The morning bird". Francine opened the door to the fridge and took out the syrup and the butter. "So Owen, what are going to do at school today?" The father pumped him. "I'm going to be playing soccer in the gym for gym class. I'm really looking forward to it." Owen replied. "Just be careful when handling that soccer ball. You could hurt someone." His mother conveyed while worried. "Don't worry, I'm sure that the soccer ball would hit the wall instead of hitting somebody. Besides, I try to be a great teammate." Owen answered. "I bet you like to scream whenever you get a goal for your team." Carter said as he took the ketchup. He began to squirt it on his food. Owen took the butter and used it on his flapjacks. He spread it evenly on the surface of each flapjack. The father rose from his chair and went over to where Carter was sitting, he took the ketchup away from him. "Don't you ever used it on the flapjacks." The father scolded as he put it back in the middle of the table. The breakfast potatoes and sausages were nearly covered in ketchup. There was a bit of ketchup next to the bacon and some only a millimeter away from the nearest flapjack. The father was not very pleased with Carter. The mother felt the same way too. "Would anybody like some syrup?" Francine asked. "Sure thing." Owen responded as he took from the center of the table as Francine set it down. He gently put a little bit on each flapjack on his plate. Owen started to cut his three flapjacks into smaller pieces. The syrup started to pour down the sides of the food. The butter on the flapjacks were caught between the syrup and the flapjack. Owen took a bite out of the first flapjack. Francine was feeling a little bit nervous while she watched Owen eating his flapjack. Since she was the one who made it.
