Normal POV
It was midnight and Youngeun was at her night shift job at a convenience store.

She was reviewing her lesson for tomorrow's quiz. But just as she was reviewing, sleepiness started to kick in and before she knew it, her head was already laid atop the counter while she was still holding a pencil from her reviewing session.

Dayeon stopped by as she saw her best friend plus crush was in deep slumber. Not wanting to disturb the younger girl, Dayeon went out to sit on one of the seats outside for a while, thinking about random stuff.

Thinking that enough time had passed, Dayeon walked in and went to grab her favorite soda drink and a can of caffeine before making her way to the counter.

She put the cold drink against Youngeun's cheek as the younger abruptly stood up and bowed, "Mian, mian... I fell asleep" Youngeun, in her sleepy state chanting thinking it was a customer or terrible enough, her boss.

She kept bowing again and again until she heard a familiar giggle from the girl in front of her.

"Your back will break." Dayeon said softly
"Ohhh! Dayeonie? Wasseo?" Youngeun quickly recognized the girl.
"Hmm."
"Let's get out for a bit. I needed a proper wake up."

Youngeun said as she walked around the counter and gently grab Dayeon's hand and walked of them out of the store. Dayeon silently followed the younger, not forgetting to grab the drink from the counter too.

"Here, for you!" Dayeon slightly pushed the caffeine drink to the younger before opening her own soda drink.

"Ouchh–" Dayeon let out a hiss when popping the can open forgetting about her freshly injured finger.

Seeing the girl in front of her struggling, Youngeun noticed a kuromi bandage wrapping around her best friend's finger. She reached over and grabbed the drink from Dayeon and popped it open before passing the drink back.

"Here you go, Yeonie." Youngeun gave the drink back with a small smirk, wanting to tease the girl while Dayeon playfully rolled her eyes ignoring Youngeun's teasing but the rosy pink colors on her cheek said otherwise. Thanks to the little light, Youngeun couldn't see it.

"How are you doing? You looked tired." Dayeon started the talk after their comfortable silence.
Youngeun could only stay muted and gulp down her own drink.

"You know Yeonie? Sometimes, I really wonder how it feels to live like a normal teenager, to have time to enjoy with your friend, to hang out on weekends, go on a date or stuff like that. But then it hits me, I have more important things to do and none of the things I have mentioned is one of them." Youngeun finished with a bitter smile and Dayeon could only stare at the girl in front of her silently.

Well, growing up with her grandparents taught Youngeun lots of things.
One of which is that she needed to be mature before her age.

She has worked to support herself age ago and not long after that, her grandma fell sick and needed to stay in the hospital so she needed to work extra harder for both of them.

She knew Dayeon's feeling for her and she felt the same way  but with their circumstances, staying as best friend like this is the best. She still has Dayeon by her side and that is what keep her going.

Another reason, she doesn't want Dayeon to disappoint her parents by dating a low profile like her.

"When does your shift end?" Dayeon asked softly.
"Early morning. I'll leave and go directly to the university." Youngeun simply replied as this is just a normal thing to her.
Dayeon just nodded her head lightly before uttering, "Arraseo, I'll take my leave now."

Youngeun only hummed as Dayeon stood up to leave. As Dayeon started to walk, Youngeun stayed behind watching her until her figure turned around the corner.

Just before she could go back inside *Ting* her phone lit up indicating a new message.

"Don't overwork yourself, pabo. Eat more! You look skinnier." — Dayeonie

Youngeun broke a smile before she typed a reply to her best friend and finally walk back inside to continue her shift.
