Savage

Chapter 1

Featherkit opened her eyes sleepily, yawning. It had been five moons since she had been found alone next to the Thunder-path, and still, everyone cast her disgusted glances. She hated being different. Of course, everyday, she cursed to herself, hating how her stupid green eye made her not fit in. It was almost glowing, and because of that, the only two cats that looked at her were Gingertail, her foster mother, and Badgerkit, Gingertail's kit. She sighed, heading out into the clearing. It was a bright, sunny morning, and only a few cats were up, ether getting ready to patrol, or basking in the sun. She suddenly caught the feeling that she was being followed, and started to turn around, but wasn't quick enough, and was bowled over.
"Got you!" Badgerkit purred. "Never saw me coming, huh?"
Featherkit rolled her eyes. "Of course I heard you! It sounded like a badger was invading camp!"
"But, you've never heard a badger invading camp!" Badgerkit said, a look of triumph in his eyes. Feahterkit rolled her eyes again, snorting. "Well, I have now!"
Badgerkit let out a playful shriek, leaping at her, but Featherkit dodged aside, just in time. "Hah!" She meowed.
"Try harder!"
"Oh, I will!" Badgerkit leapt at her again, yet again, Featherkit stepped aside, just in time.
"Wow," Badgerkit said, "You're fast!"
Featherkit nodded thankfully. It wasn't everyday she got praised, as the only words she really heard about her were misfit. . . Savage. She had tried to block out those nasty comments, but it never worked. She lay down on her back, sprawling across the ground.
Badgerkit lye down next to her. "Do you think. . . That your mother is watching us?" Badgerkit asked. Featherkit flinched, as she didn't like to talk about her mother.
"Maybe. . ." She said quietly. "Just maybe. . ."
