Featherfoot's back ached from sitting vigil. She hated how still Fawnstar was, and from the way he was on the ground,  he seemed small and pitiful. Lilyheart stared grief-stricken at him, her eyes glistening. Lilyheart stared at Brightnose quietly for a moment, then got up with a sigh. "Seedpod," She mewed, voice hoarse, "please get two other cats and patrol the borders."
"Ok," Seedpod mewed. She quietly named two other cats and they set off.

Featherfoot stretched. The elders had taken Fawnstar's body to bury it, and were now back in camp. Lilyheart had left to go to the Moonstone with Brightnose. The camp was quiet and peaceful. Frostkit and Hopkit -for once- sat quietly beside her. Hopkit sneezed, and Frostkit glared at him. Featherfoot felt affection for the little she-kit. She was lively and sweet.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey. . . Uh. . . Join here beneath high rock for a clan meeting!"
Featherfoot jumped, startled. She hadn't noticed that Lilyheart, now Lilystar, had entered the camp. She headed towards high rock, and Hopkit and Frostkit settled down beside her.
"Fawnstar," Lilyheart's voice cracked, "has died. We. . . We will remember and honor- and honor him for his service. But- I mean, I have gone to the moonstone and received my nine lives and name from Starclan."
A cheer broke out, though it wasn't that cheerful. "Lilystar! Lilystar!"
"I- I will need to pick a deputy though." She gave Featherfoot a sad look. "I had one chosen- but they're. . . Um, they're busy."
Murmures rippled through the clan, and some cats glanced at Featherfoot. Did they expect me to become deputy? She wondered.
"The new deputy of Poppyclan is Badgertooth."
Badgertooth? This wouldn't be good.
"Badgertooth, Badgertooth!" The clan cheered, though Featherfoot remained silent. "Thank you," Badgertooth said with a dip of his head, "I'm honored to be chosen."
"You may take your place on the rock," Lilystar mewed. "Clan dismissed."
"Wait," Badgertooth's meow sounded excited, joyful, evil.
"I have something I'd like to say."
"Ok, what is it?"
