It was pouring outside. Lightning struck, Thunder rumbled.
Featherstar was inside her den, curled up with Brightnose.
"Do you smell that?" Brightnose wrinkled his nose.
"No?" Featherstar was confused.
"Oh," he grunted, "it must be the fresh-kill pile, getting soaked in the rain."
Featherstar's ears twitched. Now that I think of it, I do smell that. Brightnose must be right, though, it's probably just the fresh-kill pile.
She curled into a ball, and closed her eyes.

Where am I?
"Welcome," She heard a voice, and turned around to spot her mother.
"Mother, its great to see you!"
''I know, my love."
She pressed her muzzle to her mother's head.
"How did you make it into StarClan?"
''Oh, a trick of mine."
"I've missed you. Why did you have to leave me?"
"If I hadn't, you wouldn't be who you are now. No mate, no Clanmates, you wouldn't be leader. You'd be a loner, probably - like me."
"Thats true. . ."
Her mother purred.
"So, why are you here, mother?"
Her mother fell silent. Her eyes darkened.
"Beware the Frost, for it may seem warm. But it will destroy you with its glare."
"What-"
"You will find a single shell, than more. They will defeat the frost, they will melt it."
"What do you‐"
"I love you, darling. Stay safe. Stay away from frost."
She woke with a gasp, her mother's words still echoing in her mind. Beware the Frost.
