Chapter 15

Featherfoot stretched. The clan was doing well, everyone was starting to understand how a clan worked. Treefall was leading a patrol to mark the new borders, and the rest of the cats were talking or fixing the dens. In the past moon, Gravelnose and his mate Rainshine had joined with a litter of kits.
The dens were good - Featherfoot had found a small cave in the large rock she called meetings from, and made it her den. The apprentices' den was under a dip under a bramble bush. The elders' den was in a small cave under the rocks. The warriors' den under a large bush.
"Hey," Brightnose came up to her, "I'm going to the moonstone with Lilacpaw tonight for the half-moon meeting - it's her and my first time - and you could come with us to have your nine-lives ceremony."
Featherfoot nodded. She'd completely forgotten that she needed her name. When she came back from the moonstone, she'd be Featherstar.
It was half-moon. They stood at the entrance to the moonstone, taking a deep breath. "It's beautiful.'' She breathed.
"Brightnose? Featherfoot? What are you doing here?" Glowfoot's voice sounded behind him, where he stood with Cinnamonheart, Rustheart, and Riverripple.
"Oh, Featherfoot's here to get her nine lives, and of course, I'm here for the meeting. Haven't you heard? We're Featherclan now."
"You created a clan?" He cocked his head.
"Yes, and we have a bunch of clan members. Treefall is watching camp while we are here."
"Oh, congratulations." Cinnamonheart mewed. "I'm guessing Brightnose is the medicine cat?"
''Well, duh. Lilacpaw is his apprentice." Lilacpaw gave a shy wave of her tail.
"Let's get to the moonstone." Rustheart said gruffly.
Soon they were at the moonstone. It's light dazzled Featherfoot.
"Touch your nose to the moonstone and Starclan will bring you sleep."
She closed her eyes, and darkness washed over her.
