"Hello, Mr. Jonas. I understand you needed to speak with me?" Dr. Laramie asked."Yeah. I need too know when she can go home. I mean, it's been 3 days. She seems fine." I said.
He nodded. "I guess whenever. We've just been trying to keep an eye on her. Heart surgery on a four year old isn't just something you can walk off." he said.
For my daughter it is. "I suppose." i said trying to agree.
"I'll fax up some discharge papers for you right now if you really want to take her home. Bring her back anytime if anything else goes wrong." he said.
I nodded.
-
So that's what we did. We took her home. And things were starting to get back to normal.
-
"Joe," Demi called from the kitchen. I got up off of the couch and stepped over Brooklyn on the phone playing with her toys."Yeah babe?" I asked. She had an envelope in her hands.
"We have a $25,000 bill from the hospital for all 3 of us." she said in astonishment.
"That can't be right Demi? we have insurance." I said taking the paper from her. I looked at the paper. There had to be some mistake.
"I'll call the hospital tomorrow. There must be a mistake with their billing. Our insurance is supposed to pay 3/4ths of everything. Maybe the bill is only supposed to be $2,500. And they just typed it wrong." I said.
She sighed and nodded feeling better. Which made me feel better.
"Now do you have plans tonight or do you guys wanna go out?" I asked her.
Demi shook her head. "I'm going to my moms. I'll be back around 10." she said grabbing her jacket and leaving.
(Demi's pov)
I sat at the bar. "Can I have a shot of ciroc please?" I asked. The bartender nodded. I'm not usually one who drinks but getting that bill scared me.
I'm afraid of our current money situation because Joe did keep insisting on private rooms, and more treatments over and over. Plus it's so much per night in a hospital. And on top of that a heart surgery was performed on my 4 year old.
I have no idea what happened. my world was perfect for 4 years. We could've been the freakin Brady bunch. But no. We got into a wreck and all of a sudden our baby has all these health problems, we don't have money anymore.
The bartender put the shot in front of me, and I immidiently took it. "Thanks. Can I get another?" I asked.
I wanted to stop at 3. That was my maximum. Especially because I know vodka fucks me up. But for some reason I just couldn't stop. I got to 10 and grabbed my keys.
Although I was drunk, I knew it wouldn't be a good idea.
I grabbed my phone and dialed Selena.
(Selena's pov)
"Hello?" I answered.
"Sel, I-it's meee." Demi slurred. "I need a ride home. and I'm drunk" she said.
"I'm on my way." I said hanging up.
"what this time?" nick asked.
"Demi's drunk." I told him.
He sighed in disbelief. It really wasn't like her to be doing this.
(Demi's pov)
I took 4 more shots as I waited on Selena. I ended up tripping out of the bar trying to get into her car.
"God Demi, how many shots did you take?" Selena asked me.
"Mmm not enough." I said.
(joes pov)
There was a knock on the door. Whoever it was just kept knocking and knocking. "Coming!" I yelled.
Brooklyn was sound asleep in her bed.
I opened the door to Selena and Demi hanging over her shoulder passed out.
"is she okay?" I asked.
"Yes, she trashed." Selena said handing her body over to me.
Demi looked up and giggled. "It's my husband." she said laughing.
Selena giggled. "She's all yours buddy." she said. I nodded and shut the door.
This was just like Demi. Running off and getting drunk or something when she's stressed. I love her but she doesn't cope with things very well.
It's all apart of the package I guess.
