(Joe's pov)

I walked through the door and shut it behind me. "Babe, I'm home." I yelled. Demi walked in with Brooklyn on her hip. "Hey, how'd it go?" she asked. Brooklyn was half asleep and had her pacifier in her mouth. She's 4, and we really need to break her of that.

"Oh, problem solved. It was a mistake just like I said. It was $2,500. I got it paid and taken care of with no problem." I said. I hated lying to my wife. But I don't want her worrying or stressing out.

She nodded. "Well I'm gonna put her in bed." she said. I nodded and kissed Brooklyn's forehead. "Goodnight princess" I said as she walked up the stairs.

I went to the kitchen and pulled out my cell phone and dialed one of my employees numbers. He does programming for me when I can't and I trust him a lot with my business and finances.

"Hello?" Jordan asked.

"Hey Jordan, I need you to take $25,000 out of the company's account." I told him.

"No problem Mr. Jonas." he said hanging up.

The next day at work I walked into the office and Jordan came up to me. "Mr. Jonas we have a problem." he told me.

"What kind of problem?" I asked.

He looked at me directly in the eyes. "The kind we need to talk about in your office." he said through his teeth. I nodded and followed him to my office.

I made sure it was locked and closed the blinds so none of the other employees would notice what was going on.

"you know how you wanted me to take care $25,000 out of the company account?" jordan asked.

I nodded.

"There's none in there. Only like $15,000." Jordan said.

I sighed. "It looks like we have to fire someone." I said.

Jordan nodded. "Well Drake Bell has been a little slacking lately. and had some customer complaints. Plus he has no wife or family. So no harm no foul." jordan suggested.

"Alright. Tell him to come to my office after his shift." I said.

(Demi's pov)

I sat on my moms couch and sipped my coffee.

"So did you guys get the situation figured out? About the bill?" she asked me. I nodded. "Yeah." I said. "That's good." she said. I nodded again.

Brooklyn was at school and I had to pick her up in 20 minutes.

"So what're your plans for the weekend? I'm needing to go doing some shopping. I have a date Saturday." my mom told me.

I raised an eyebrow. "a date?" I asked. "with who?"

"His name is Eddie. I met him at the church at my substance support meeting. He used to be addicted to cocaine. But he's now on a much better path. I'm looking forward to it." she said.

I don't know why this made me a little mad. Does she think she can just replace my father with some coke addict? It's always been just me and her. Her and I.

"I don't know, but I've gotta get Brooklyn from school soon." I said getting up and rushing straight out of her door as I turned my car on and started the engine.

I texted Joe and asked him to pick up Brooklyn. I had to go somewhere I hadn't gone in a long time. I was going to my dads grave. In New Jersey.
