Back To The Mansion (CH.28)

Shinobu's Pov

As Y/N finished laughing hysterically, for no reason at all, he asked to me. "So, do you mind if I make a stop by the butterfly mansion?" And honestly, the question caught me a bit of guard, despite it being a bit too obvious coming from him.

Either way, I took a moment to think about it, and actually, my first idea was to reject him. It wasn't only because he just annoyed me of course, there were other reasons as well. On one hand, coming through would probably only slow him down, as going so far away from his current house would surely make him unable to return before healing up, and after doing so, he would probably go back there to check up on things, making it so that it takes him longer before getting back to work. Also, Aoi and Kanao are really busy right now with their work and studies, and having him there would very surely distract them, and as a last nail to the coffin, Sumi, Kiyo, and Naho were still a bit shy, and would probably feel uncomfortable if someone staid for this long while not acting as a patient, and I honestly didn't want him to affect them just yet, like he did with Kanao and Aoi.

I then turned around to tell him all of this, however, as I looked at him, especially at his eyes, which looked simply too 'pure', despite him not being a child or anything, and as all of this feelings overwhelmed me, I couldn't deny him the possibility of coming, so I instead said. "F-Fine...You may come..." And then turned around, as to not keep looking at his goofy face.

Something about this didn't seem to click with him though, as he said to me. "Umm...Okay, thanks." Almost as if I had said it out of nowhere. This kind of behavior really bugs me at times, as he acts as if he didn't catch up with anything, when he's usually quite perceptive and competent, almost as if being near me immediately confused him.

Almost as soon as this train of thought passed through me, I immediately pushed it away and tried to think of something else. 'Anyway, I guess any mission he may have can wait a couple more hours, and the girls have been working hard. They've earned a little reward, and who knows, maybe his influence ends up being positive in Sumi, Kiyo, and Naho.' I felt relieved that him coming wouldn't actually disturb my agenda that much, but I think there was something else within me. Something saying that I was actually that he came, because I just wanted to spend time with him.

I pressed my fist against my chest, and felt my heart bumping really loud. This was confusing for me, and I couldn't help but wonder. 'Is this supposed to be...love?' But just as I did this, I also stopped walking, confusing Y/N, so he got beside me, and asked.

"Kocho? Is everything alright?" This made something else within me click, and suddenly, a smile had been brought to my face, but not like the ones I usually give to people that annoy me, but rather a genuine smile that made me feel good about something. Something that didn't really happened since Kanae's death.

I took a couple more seconds before replying, after what I said to him. "Yeah, everything's fine with me. Let's go." And then started walking again towards the Mansion. 'Well, maybe it's just a brotherly love, so it is fine with me.' I thought to myself, which made me calm down, but something else made my heart flutter differently. 'Yeah...Nothing more...'

It took us quite a while to get back home, despite the fact that we had decided to pick up the pace and run, but soon enough, we were at the Butterfly Mansion. As we got closer and closer, Y/N could still recognize basically every tree and bush he had seen from last time, and every time he recognized one that was closer to the mansion than the last, he would get pretty excited, and while it was annoying, I found it kind of cute and fun as well.

Once we finally arrived, and we just had to cross the corner of the Mansion to get in, I exclaimed. "Kanao! Aoi! I'm back!" In order to get their attention, and surely enough, a couple of seconds after saying this, I could hear them move a couple things at the other side of the wall, and as me and Y/N approached the door, Aoi had already opened it and said to us, or well, to me actually, as she wasn't aware of Y/N just yet.
