'It's the challenge that attracts him.' Drew answered  'Nothingvhas change since last I saw him when we were together in MBC but je is much more ruthless now.'

'I suppose he thinks he's going to trample all over us, acting the big "I am",' Nevin complained. He can still remember how once he enumerated one by one his reason why he doesn't want girl & gays in media. He even insinuated where girls should ne and what she should excel . He even went to the point of shaming gays on the only poaition they can be at he media. Well, if he thought he can toy with me he got it all wrong. He is in forvsurprise of his life!

"Why did you let NTC do that to you?' Nevin asked Drew unhappily. 'If we need people to supervise us what does it have to him? Is there no one who can do that?'

'Nevin, if I let NTC decide for our situation tjey might as well revoke our license to operate.' Drew finally admitted. He is not willing to admit tjay we almost lost the radio station's license if it wasn't for Zion's help. His reluctance to have Zion join them is evident but the other party seemed to expect him to be overwhelmed with gratitude for his intervention.

'You dont have to worry about your job,' David told him. 'You're very highly qualified, Nevin, and your references from your previous work were excellent.'

"But we noth know that I haven't proven anything yet since I've been here.' Nevin said bitterly.

He came from a big advertising company based in Cebu as account assistant with all of his ideas and enthusiasm, with him, he brought a plan of campaign carefully mapped out from judicious observation of the way in which other successful radio stations handled their advertising. But in more than acyear hechas been in the company theres no noticeable changes yet in the radio station as he had hoped

'We need to down now Nevin,' Drew remind him glancing at his watch. 'Meet you downstairs in ten minutes?'

Nevin nodded. Usually Drew srives him home and it is because of shared lifts which had initially given rise to their romance.

'When are you going to tell the others?' He ask Drew

'Actually, they knew already,' Drew told him tiredly. 'Paul was waiting for mecwhen I arrived  and didn't see any point in keeping it a secret.'

Paul is one of the two DJ's of the radio station. He is a lively person and very vocal about his attraction with Nevin. An easy friendship had developed between them, and Nevin sensed that given the chance, Paul would take their relationship to the next level.

It's almost six in the afternoon when he return to their office that also serve as their mess hall to get his bag. There are four person inside the room now, drinking coffee; the two night duty technician—Radio The Waveform operated twenty-four hours a day— Paul and with the clerk cum office assistant Susan.

The buzz of gossip faded a little when Nevin walked in. Paul called him while offering a cup of coffee.

'Do you have time before you go home Nevin?' He asked Nevin. 'Or his royal highness is waiting for you?'

Nevin's eyes sparkled a little at this sarcastic reference to Drew, he just ignore the dibs. It's difficult to keep a lowkey relationship in a small company and at some point Paul is pissing him  for making unneccessary comment on Drew because Drew was quiet and introverted. He like Drew's gentle nature, he always rem8nd himself that if Drewcalways bows down to others, it was because he is too considerate to argue. Personally, he couldnt think anything to make Drew any more evil in his mind.

'I still have few minutes he told Paul, guessing from his excited air what had been the topic of conversation before he walked in.

'What do you think about Zion Palmer joining us?' Paul asked him. He is right to assume that they were talking about Zion's  presence in their company on the near future.

He had deep raven eyes and the craziest curly hair. Under his air of casual self lurked a keen brain and an acid sense of humor, but Nevin refused to let him get under his guard, and a certain sense of mutual respect had grown up between them. Paul is well known of the two DJ and a year older than Nevin.

In his great annoyance, he bluntly replied, 'I can't believed NTC, we are being offloaded to him.'

'Come on, Nevin,' Paul objected. 'We should have kneel and thank God because he was given off to us. Face it, Drew is a good person, but admittedly he dont have the capacity and ability to fix the situation the radio station is on right now. With Zion Palmer in charge...'

'In charge! He's coming in in an advisory capacity, that's it,' Nevin reminded him. 'Drew still in-charge.'

A palpable silence ensue after Nevins outburst, and then Paul's eyes crinkled in amusement.

'That's our Nevin, a fighter! Faithful with Drew until the end. Zion's going to have to watch himself with you around, honey!'

Everybody laugh afterwards, and Paul slipped a friendly arm round Nevin's shoulder, pulling him against him.

'Don't start sulking on me,' Paul can't seem to stop annoying him. 'Even you know it in yourself that Drew isn't that dynamic. Yes, he is a good person Nevin - we can't disregard that- but look at our ratings and how he is always manipulated by Mr. Tan. He can't even tell that old slug that we need those new equipment to up our performance to help our ratings, to see that he just isn't cut out for this game. We need someone who is strong amd brave enough to plow thru this kind of situation!'

'Like Zion Palmer, is that what you mean?' Nevin interrupted bitterly.

'Hmp, please be!' Paul objected. 'Look at our ratings to see how badly we're doing. No one knows that better than you.' Paul is ambitious and he looking at him differetly at this time. 'Come on, Nevin, maybe you forgot what happened to you when you w3net to that old man Jorge Romulo already.'

Nevin couldn't forget that! Jorge Romulo's comments had rankled, and he was still smarting from his interview with him. Romulo Brothers is one the local employers. They owned a canning factory, rubber plantation and real state company. Nevin had spent weeks preparing an advertising campaign to put before Mr. Romulo, nut tje old man didn't show an ounce of enthusiasm . Despite of the rates he offered —pared down to the bone—and the fact he had pointed out their audience and the possible limitless possibilities, Jorge Romulo's reception had been the opposite of enthusiastic.

He can't get over the fact that Paul is correct in his assumption. He knows how weak Drew is in deal8ng with the business side of the company. It seems Drew wants the radio station to work by itself.
