Nevin has returned to their house and he can't believe the flow of his conversation with Drew. He was very hurt by what he found out. He's ashamed to admit it, but everything Zion said about Drew is but the truth. Drew never loved him, he just used him and to think he protected him from everyone. While he was in the hammock, he thought of their conversation earlier.

'Drew I came today because I want to talk to you, he said immediately. 'Zion told me that you stopped Mr. Ramirez to continue their ads'

'And you believed him,' Drew answered him. 'Has anything happened between the two of you?' He said mockingly to Nevin, insinuating. Nevin was shocked by what he said.

'How can you ask me that?' he asked Drew angrily.

'He's made it pretty clear what he wants from you,' Drew told him sulkily, 'and what he wants he usually gets.'

Drew is insecure about Zion and he is jealous but his insecurity has a deeper reason Nevin noticed. '

'Drew, did you do all this?' he asked shakily. 'You didn't tell Mr Ramirez that we were going bankrupt, or....'

'what's wrong with that if I did?' Drew asked bitterly. 'It's no more than Zion deserves. The radio station was mine until he came along. The NTC has no right to appoint him with a position higher than mine. and—yes, all right,' he said fiercely, 'I did all that to make it difficult for him so that he could also feel the suffering that I experienced just keep the station afloat. When you told me about the Ramirez campaign it seemed the ideal starting point...'

He must not be sick, Nevin thought, oppressed by the atmosphere of the small room and the man seated opposite him, who had suddenly become a stranger.

'And the bookshop?' he asked him faintly.

He had the grace to look faintly ashamed. 'There isn't one, but I had to have some reason for leaving.'

'Like you and Simon Tan will bid to take over the franchise when it comes up next year?' he asked unbelief etched his face.

'And why not?' Drew shouted at him

'Oh, Drew!' he exclaimed unhappily. 'Are you sure, Simon Tan, of all people...'

'There's nothing wrong with Simon Tan,' said Drew. 'Andrea can convince him.'

'Andrea?' Nevin stared at him.

Zion wasn't kidding when he told Nevin that Drew liked Andrea better. Pain twisted inside him like a knife.

'So even that wasn't real,' he said bitterly. 'You never actually wanted me, did you, Drew? You didn't love me as I thought...'

'I'm sorry,' he said awkwardly. 'I'm fond of you, Nevin, and always have been, but you can't pretend we ever set the world alight.' His mouth twisted wryly. 'I'll admit when we first met I used to wonder what you'd be like in bed, but when I got to know you I realized it just wasn't on. And with andrea I come to terms with my preference'

'And does Andrea set the world alight for you?' Nevin asked savagely, biting his lip when he saw the color filling his thin face. 'I'm sorry,' he apologized, 'I shouldn't have said that. I must go...'

'You understood me, right Nevin?' Drew pleaded with him. 'I have no choice. Zion needs to know that he will never step on me. And you can't blame me if I can't get excited about you.'

'It's not your fault Drew.' Nevin said before he left his house.

He was grateful for the fact that he had parked the car down a side street from Drew's house, because that gave him the opportunity to sit quietly in it until the shaking had gone.
