Green Lantern (Jessica): [creates binoculars] Just like the others. We've got a tagging crew on our hands.
Aura Guardian: What does that symbol even mean?
Pikachu: PIKA?
Bumblebee: [groans] That's six so far. They're spread all across the whole city!
Aura Guardian: Six?! That's so not cool!
Pikachu: [agreeing] PIKACHU!
Zatanna: And now they've defaced Metropolis' most iconic landmark.
Wonder Woman: Vile fiends. We Amazons recognize when a rival clan intends to invade.
Supergirl: Yeah! Creeping in on our turf?
Batgirl: Not on our watch. [takes out computer] Unless my bat-sleuthing skills deceive me, these tags seem to be appearing at specific times in specific places. If I can just triangulate these coordinates, we'd be able to predict where the crew is gonna strike.
Bumblebee: [shows her phone] Metropolis Shipyards.
Batgirl: Touche, Bumblebee. Touche.
Aura Guardian: How'd you do that?!
Bumblebee: Batgirl isn't the only one who's good a tech genius!
Aura Guardian: Point taken!
Bumblebee: Exactly! Which is in... [screams, gulps]
Turns out, they were in some creepy and filthy alleyway.
Supergirl: Sinister Slum.
Aura Guardian: Man, it's all creepy and gross!
Pikachu: [agreeing] [sticks tongue out] PIKACHU!
Green Lantern (Jessica): It's seedy.
Zatanna: It's filthy.
Bumblebee: It's scary. [screams]
Batgirl: [wistfully] It's just like back home... [grunts]
Eevee: [scared] EEVEE!
Zatanna: It's alright, Eevee!
Then, Aura Guardian saw a group of familiar Mouse Pokémon with different looks.
Rattata (Kanto and Alolan): RATTATA!
Raticate: (Kanto and Alolan): RATICATE!
Aura Guardian: Whoa! A group of Rattata and Raticate! Both Kantoian and Alolan!
Batgirl: [excited] Eee!
Supergirl: How can you tell them apart!
Aura Guardian: [pulls out his Rotom Phone] Have a look!
Rotom Phone: Rattata and its evolved form, Raticate, the Mouse Pokémon. One group are Normal type, while the other are Dark and Normal type. Rattata can live in any environment. And when they evolve into Raticate, they can gnaw through anything with its ever-growing teeth. And when the Alolan Rattata and Raticate band together, they steal food from people's homes. Long ago, they came to the Alolan islands aboard cargo ships, and eventually grew into the Pokémon we see today. The numbers of Rattata and Raticate eventually grew so large that Yungoos and Gumshoos were brought in from a different region to chase them off.
Supergirl: Huh! Pretty neat!
Batgirl: But it still doesn't answer the question on their different appearances!
Rotom Phone: This is what's known as a Regional Variant, which are common in some Pokémon. For example, Kantonian Raichu are pure Electric type, while the Alolan Raichu are an Electric and Psychic type. And Kantonian Exeggutor are a Grass and Psychic type while the Alolan Exeggutor are a Grass and Dragon type.
