Three years later...
Bucky groaned as he furiously typed against the keyboard, eyes flicking back and forth between the four monitors in front of him. Over the past three years he had grown accustomed to assisting the team on big missions from the safety of the Avengers Compound. They were currently fighting the Kree on a spaceship – a literal space ship – that hovered almost 100 miles off the New York coast in the Atlantic Ocean. This wasn't their first run-in with the Kree, and it didn't seem like it was going to be the last, either.
Their biggest struggle with them this round was the fact that they had teamed up with a handful of Skrulls, who were successfully shapeshifting into various members of the Avengers and confusing the younger Avengers. Kamala, Peter, and Shuri were the ones most affected, being the youngest and newest to the more intense missions.
They came up with secret code words and paired each on up with an 'adult' to try and prevent confusion. Carol Danvers with Kamala, Tony with Peter, and T'challa with Shuri. It seemed to work out, until Peter was tripped and knocked out, not able to follow Tony into a different area.
"Spidey! Kid, get up! You need to get up before you lose Ironman!" Bucky shouted into the mic. Nothing. His camera showed he was surrounded by a few Kree.
"Barnes, do you have eyes on the kid?!" Tony panicked. A door had clanked shut the moment he had left the room and prevented him from going back for Peter. To say he was freaking out was an understatement.
"I see him, but he's not moving. They've deactivated Karen, so I can use her to. Can you find a way to get back in the room?" he answered.
"No, I think I'll stay here and have a Snickers – WHAT DO YOU THINK I'M DOING, ROBOCOP?!?"
"Be nice to daddy!" A tiny voice shouted from behind Bucky. He turned around to see little Mira waddling towards him, her hands full of Wanda and Natasha's action figures and a bag of paprika chips. Chatter filled the background as the other Avengers spoke to each other, determining who was the closest to get to Peter until Tony opened the door. Carol and Kamala were the first to offer assistance.
"What're you doing here, baby girl?" Bucky groaned as he lifted his daughter onto his lap. "I thought you were helping your mom watch Morgan so Aunt Pepper could rest?"
"She wouldn't stop crying," Mira pouted, her bottom lip sticking out dramatically.
"She misses her dad. You should be in there to help comfort her."
"What about my little girl?" Tony demanded over the headset.
"She's fine, just crying," Bucky answered. He shifted Mira in his lap so he could resume with helping with the mission. "Uh-oh."
"Uh-oh what?!" Steve asked with a grunt. He was currently in a battle against a small army with Natasha, Yelena, and Sam beside him.
"The kid's camera was shut off. Stark, when you get back in the room you'll have to make sure you're dealing with the right Spiderman. I saw a Skrull amongst the Kree's before it went black."
Tony cursed. "If he's knocked out that may be a little difficult. I've just about bypassed the door."
"I'd advise you wait until Danvers and Kamala reach you before engaging," Bucky said. He had to raise his voice slightly due to the sound of his daughter loudly crunching on her chips.
"They've got my kid. I'm engaging as soon as this damn door – going in!"
"Tony, do not – wait until Danvers and Kamala arrive! Both Marvels, how far out are you from the room?" Bucky was exasperated. He should have expected this behavior from Tony, especially when Peter was involved. It was still incredibly annoying.
