Actually, you did catch the disc after all. Just... with your head.
Consciousness finally drifted back to you. Slowly, you opened your eyes, waking up from a blackout for the millionth time. When your vision cleared, you saw a gray cat-like monster looking back at you.
"Oh, (Y/N)! You're finally awake!" Grim sighed in relief. He was sitting on your bed.
"Welcome back. Again." Yuu uttered jokingly. He stood at your side.
You sat up from the bed you were laying on and inspected your surroundings. Cots, shelves filled with medicine bottles, and curtains. You deduced that you were laying in the school infirmary. Glancing around, you observed everyone else was standing around your cot. They had varying looks of relief.
"What..." You murmured in a daze of confusion.
Instinctively, your hand reached up to your temple. Your nerves seemed to relax once the feeling of gauze brushed against your fingertips. It was wrapped securely around your upper head.
"You got hit in the head by the disc Grim tried to throw during the second half." Ace recapped for you. "Do you remember?"
You slowly shot Grim a mild glare. "Oh, I remember alright..." You answered. He tensed under your heated gaze nervously. The guilt and fear was eating him alive.
"I-I thought my super long shot would make it though!" He insisted in defense.
Just when Grim thought he was done for, your gaze softened. "It's fine..." You uttered quietly, laying back against the cot pillow.
In truth, you weren't mad that he hit you. You were more upset that Yuu would have gotten hurt if you didn't take the disc.
Thank goodness I did in his place.
"It's not something a beginner should try to do." Jack argued, looking over at Grim.
"In any case, I'm glad you're awake now." Deuce smiled with relief. "I was getting worried that we'd be blamed if you didn't wake up soon."
What he said wasn't entirely true. He was incredibly concerned for your wellbeing, but he didn't want you or the others to know that.
"So, the tournament ended while you were out cold, and now they're preparing to clean the place." Ace mentioned.
The room was fairly dark and outside the window was a dark blue. It was definitely late outside. How long was I out? Five or six hours?
"So who won?" You asked next. You were genuinely curious who ended up winning.
Unfortunately, it wasn't a very shocking answer.
"Diasomnia won." Leona answered from the bed adjacent to yours. He was roughed up himself and had his own set of bandages. Just trying to recall the match was a pain for him. "Tch... Those guys seriously aimed for us and not the disc."
"Uughh. In the end we didn't stand a chance." Ruggie chimed in with a loud disappointed sigh. He was in the next bed over. Diasomnia had wiped the floor with them, and the other teams were no exception. "The other dorms were all a mess so this year's tournament was a shit show."
Jack was taken aback by their appearance. "Leona, Ruggie! I didn't realize you were awake too!" He said in surprise.
Leona closed his eyes and furrowed his brows in annoyance. He was embarrassingly defeated. "Tch... To think that I'd use the clinic's bed for anything other than my naps." He huffed before lightly flopping his head back onto the pillow.
