~ first meet ~
The table was filled with laughter and smiles— all of the women joking and remembering a time when life was easier and their only worries were boys and exam results.
Reminiscing about old times had become a major hobby for the friend group Jisoo was in. They enjoyed talking about the small arguments they would find themselves in and often talked about their wishes for the future and current plans that they had never once thought of when they were younger.
Jisoo and her seemingly large group of friends had been together since the beginning of middle school. Well, it started off with just her and Lisa and eventually widened until they found the perfect number and the perfect people.
Often, they all would message in the group chat when they needed an escape from their adult lives. They'd plan the dates, and what they wanted to do and vote on it— the majority winning and the minority paying. It was a little gamble and they all enjoyed it since there were rarely hard feelings involved.
Today happened to be the day when Seulgi, one of Lisa's and Jisoo's first-ever new friends, decided she needed a break from her horrendous children and office life. She lived with her family but, recently, she had been met with her youngest child's sickness and the group of women planned a lovely day out for her so she wouldn't be so caught up in her feelings and only think about her baby getting better.
So, to make things better, they spent the day at the amusement park and even went bowling. Currently, they were all sitting together in a restaurant, eating the food they ordered and reminiscing about old times— like they usually would.
They enjoyed the feeling of gossiping like they were younger and talking about how attractive certain men and women were— even if the majority of them had loving partners to go home to.
"Oh, wait!"
Lisa had suddenly exclaimed something that brought all the women's laughter down to silence as they waited for the Thai to say what she has suddenly remembered after clicking her fingers and smacking her lips together.
Jisoo was intrigued, even if she hadn't involved herself with the man gossip— only sipping her drink and listening to whatever the women were saying.
It was just that Jisoo had a loving boyfriend at home and they had been together for years. She didn't involve herself in such gossip because she always felt guilty when she did and even if her boyfriend understood her, she still felt as though she was doing something completely awful to him.
"Did you guys hear about that new coffee shop?"
All the women looked around at each other, none of them hearing about a coffee shop that had been newly built or owned near any of them.
"No, not at all," said Jennie, nudging Jisoo who merely sipped from her cola glass. Jisoo shrugged as well, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. "Elaborate, Lisa. We need more details."
Jennie rolled her eyes.
Lisa blinked, clicking her fingers once again. She had always been slow and often started gossip that never ended because she tended to get distracted and ramble on about a totally different subject. It had been the reason why most of the women muted their group chat.
"Apparently, a really young— really pretty — woman owns it. Now, I think it's a family-owned business so her employees are members of her family but I walked past it this morning and it was packed!"
All the women seemed intrigued, including Jisoo. Lisa continued to ramble on about the looks of the woman and the looks of her new building— explaining how its aesthetics really brought light upon the old building.
