Chapter 6: Kirk

Chapter 6: Kirk

Lorelai's P.O.V.

I pull up in my drive way exhausted from my long day at work. Once parked in the usual spot under the tree I turn the key and get out of the car. Before I even get a chance to close the door I hear Kirk calling my name which only means he has some random, weird opinion he wants to share.

"Kirk? What can I do for you?" I shut the door and sigh.

"I just want to express my sympathy."

"For what, Kirk?" I ask in a normal tone because I've gotten used to his craziness.

"For your loneliness."

"My loneliness?"

"Yes, you see I was talking to Sookie and she mentioned you were missing Rory, which is totally understandable given that she's you're only daughter who is away from home. Well she may not be your only child, I'm not completely up to date on your and Luke's kid status. I've actually been meaning to ask him about that. " he babbles on and on making me wish I hadn't asked further questions. "I will have to make a mental note to do that tomorrow. I have to make mental notes, you see, to remember things. I have a feeling that my forgetfulness has sprouted because of age, though I am not that old of a person. Maybe I should ask Taylor about that, you see he forgets things quite a bit. I'll ask him tomorrow..."

"Kirk." I interrupt his ramble.

"Yes?"

"Your point please."

"Oh, right. Well I heard that Michelle was going to come and live with you. I was going to offer, if you're that lonely then I would come live with you instead, knowing that you like me better. Now I'm not sure how Luke would feel about it but I thought that if he's letting Michelle live with you then why would he mind me living with you. Although I have to think about Lulu, but she'll probably understand given that she is that kind of person. Unless you haven't told Luke yet. You do have a history of not telling...."

"Kirk." I stop him again. "I'm fine. Michelle is coming to live with me because he doesn't have a house right now. I appreciate your offer but I must decline. Thank you for your concern." I conclude and walk away to my front door.

"If you change your mind..." Kirk calls.

"You'll be the first to know." I yell back and enter the house and close the door. I put my coat and purse down on the table in the entry way and enter the kitchen where Luke is getting a beer out of the fridge.

"Hey. You okay?" Luke asks once he notices my expression of exhaustion and annoyance. 

"Kirk." 

"Ahh." he sighs, completely understanding. "What did he want? A job at the inn again?" 

"He wanted to move in." I state.

"What?" 

"He heard about Michelle moving in and he thought it was a desperate cry of loneliness. So he wanted to take it upon himself to move in instead because I like him better apparently."

"Wait. Michelle is moving in?"

"Yeah I was going to talk to you about that tonight. He is having financial trouble and  so I thought, since Rory's room is empty, he could stay here for a while." I explain.

"Uhhh.." Luke grunts, unsure. "He doesn't exactly like me very much and to be honest I don't really like him. How will we get along when we live together?"
