Chapter 35: Unknown Caller I.D.
Rory's P.O.V.
"Is it even possible for us to go to Mexico?" Lane asks in disbelief.
"Of course it's possible, anything is possible. We can take Zach and the babies, I can bring Logan, we can make an entire trip out of it."
"That does sound pretty fun. Let me see what Zach says." she sets the phone down and I take the opportunity to talk to Logan.
"Are you okay with that?" I ask him, worried that I accidentally signed him up for something he didn't want.
"As long as I'm with you everything is okay. And Mexico is actually a really fun place to go. Their beaches are beautiful and they have these shops down there that have the best food and tequila you'll ever have." he smiles at me and I mirror his grin.
"Zach's cool with it! As long as we don't go to that place we went to on our honeymoon." Lane laughs and I remember the stories she told me of their trip.
"And it'll be okay to bring Steve and Kwan?"
"Yeah, it'll be great. I have a feeling they're going to love the water."
"Alright then, well I'll call you again later tonight to figure out the exact time and date we're leaving."
"Sounds good, talk to you later." she hangs up the phone and I toss it onto the bed.
"Okay, so this tour with the President ends tonight after my interview with him. And then tomorrow I'll have all my articles turned in so we can fly back to Connecticut tomorrow and leave for Mexico tomorrow night?" I look to Logan for confirmation and he nods with a wide grin. "What are you smiling at?" I ask, giggly.
"You."
"What about me?"
"The life I can't wait to share with you."
"But you have that job in San Francisco, how is it going to work if you're all the way on the west coast?"
"My job in San Francisco is partnered with a company in New York, my family is good friends with the owners of the two companies and I explained to them my situation. So they agreed that I could do the same work at the same salary in New York with their sister company." he explains and I squeal in excitement.
"That's amazing, Logan! I'm so happy for you! And thank you so much, that is really incredible of you, just..wow thank you!" I leap towards him and wrap my arms around his neck, hugging him tightly.
"Anything for you, Ace." he says into my hair as our hug lingers.
"So you ready for Mexico?" I ask him and he grins.
"I'm not sure exactly what I'm getting into but then again do I never know with you." I push him playfully for his remark.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I roll my eyes sarcastically.
"Okay so we leave tomorrow night?" he asks me and I nod, texting Lane that we will meet her at my house tomorrow at 8 pm.
How are you getting from there to Stars Hollow?
She replies.
Logan has a plane booked for tomorrow morning. I figured we'd fly in and then pick up anything we need for the trip then come meet you guys at my house.
Sounds perfect. And you're sure Lorelai will be okay with this?
No but it's Lorelai. How bad can her reaction be? Plus it's a fun excuse for us all to have a vacation together.
Alright cool! We'll see you tomorrow, then.
Sure thing.
"Are you done texting now, Ace?"
"Yeeeeess."
Lorelai's P.O.V.
The same night seems to replay in my head until my thoughts are interrupted by a new song on the radio. I shake my head, dazzled for a second, before continuing on my journey. The shock of the memory still upon me, I pull over at a gas station, hungry for road trip food. I park the jeep and lock it before walking into the florescent lit building. My eyes burn as they adjust from the darkness of the night. I head straight to the candy section, reaching for milk duds, red vines, skittles, and sour patch watermelon gummies.
"Will this be all for you?" the lady at the register asks, her hair messily tossed into a bun. Her smile is tired but sweet and her eyes dance in dreams that dance in her head.
"Yes, thank you."
"Would you like any cash back?"
"No, thank you. Oh but can I put twenty in gas in station 1?"
"Sure thing." she replies and pushes a few more buttons before telling me my total cost. I pay her and wish her a good night as I leave to fill up my tank. The night seems off, as if something in the air is trying to say something. If it were snow I sensed I'd know immediately. No. This was something else. The wind blew awkwardly against me, whipping the second it touched my flesh. I jump slightly when I hear the click of the pump telling me it's done. I get back in the jeep and open my box of milk duds, popping a few into my mouth before continuing down my path. As I exit the gas station parking lot, my phone begins to ring. An unknown number shows up on the caller I.D. and I frown in confusion.
"Hello?" I ask into the speaker but I'm quickly answered by the other end hanging up, ending the call. "A simple wrong number would be nice." I say to no one and toss my phone onto the passenger seat. Just as it hits the cushion, it rings again. The same unknown caller appearing on the screen.

Hello lovelie! I'm sorry for the long time since updating, school started back up and ugh it's kicking my butt guys. So ready to be done. How are all of you doing? Let me know if you're still in school and if you're a school nerd like Rory or a "Let's get ice cream" like Lorelai. I must say I used to be a Rory, but I'm quickly and drastically becoming a Lorelai. Anyone else with me?
I love you all! Talk to you all very soon!
XOXO
